I think the internet needs a centralised voting website.

You have 1 account, you state your age, consoles you play, movies you watch, where you're from, etc.

You can vote your favourite games, movies, etc.

You can view rankings on say top 25 games in said country, or age group, or people who play just PC's, etc. This is the most ideal way to get an accurate idea of what games really do belong at the top.

No, because most people are dumb .

(btw, that's also the correct response when people ask how in the Hell did Britney Spears sell so many albums)

Hence why I say, if you want to search what the best song is by people that have a degree in XYZ, then do a search on that.

Because the reality is, there is no best of anything, everything is subject to our opinions.

Yeah, could have used one or two more adventure games.

True that, but The Longest Journey wouldn't be one of those. And I'm with Kuci ( ) here, a list without Elite is't worth the pixels it is made of. Elite stood out even more than Civ 2.

Agreed; I loved TLJ, but it's not one of the top 3 adventure games of all time.

I'd suggest Day of the Tentacle, and any one of the Gabriel Knight games.

DotT seems to be everyone's favourite but IMHO it is too American centered. How is a simple European like me to know about Washington and cherry trees? Or wooden teeth? I played it through with a walkthrough but I didn't find it very funny

I'm with you on Gabriel Knight and I suspect that Dan Brown played GK3 before he came up with the idea of The DaVinci Code. I saw a documentary on it and to my delight they also mentioned the village in which GK3 was set and it looked exactly as in the game.

Both GK3 and TDC were based in part on the book Holy Blood, Holy Grail, the authors of which unsuccessfully sued Dan Brown for plagarism. Rennes-le-Chateau is discussed heavily in that book.

Not a bad list, except the Sims and Oblivion shouldn't be there of course, and SimCity 2000 is much too high.

That list is invalid - no SMAC/X
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
