You take away a person's right of conscience by denying them freedom of expression, or freedom to outwardly identify oneself.
If you are forced under oppressive laws to behave contradictory to your true identity, you are not truly enjoying your right to conscience, correct?A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Conscience is defined as one's ability to distinguish himself from the affections of his mind and/or body, in other words, have an idea of the affection that is not the affection itself.
What you're talking about is freedom of expression, and, in the case of interned Jews, material freedom. In Soviet Russia, Fake borises YOU.

So back to what fake Boris was saying. Freedom of expression can essentially be an outward form of expressing one's conscience.
We express ourselves whenever we take action or behave in ways that are either consistent, or inconsistent with our values/morals.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

The meaning of conscience is to choose to live in accordance with one's morals/values though. And you live your life that way through choices in behavior and action in your daily life.
So what part does not make sense in making the connection between freedom of expression with one's conscience?A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
