    True.
What is particularly boring (although it could be fun sometimes) is that the most obvious contradiction does not prevent them from building new fortresses of freedom.
For instance, the first law deciding what history should tell (about holocaust) was initiated by a communist MP.

I heard (but don't believe) that you can't cross the street out of turn in America without being arrested.

        It's called 'jaywalking' or something.

I actually disagree with that law.

            Good.
But desagreeing with that law you also desagree with all the communists MP who voted it, and therefore you also desagree with the Party.

The Republic was written by Plato (the Greek philosofer, not the Apolyton poster) around 360 BC, that is the fourth century BC.
Republicanism was built presumably not long after.

You can in my state. You can also get arrested for cussing and spitting on the ground. It's not enforced much but I just saw something on the news where there is a lot of people trying to get these laws enforced again like they used to be.

There is not one single individual who fully agrees with a party. A party defends some core values over a very broad scope of issues, and is supposed to think something of every issue. Any person (who also has ideas of his own) is bound to disagree with a party on some, or even many, specifics.

The Communist Party is the one in the political spectrum with whom I share most of the vision (a socialist society that comes to power through democratic means), and with whom I share most proposals. It doesn't mean I'm a drone of them.
Just like any other Commie I know.
Just like any other political activist I know, whatever the party.

Enlightenment is not an ideology, it is a method. And I dont know how we can abjure a method.
