No one put happy slapping on the internet when I was a kid. Were we unfree then? Which is not to say this ban is wise public policy. The article raises an interesting point with regard to the filming of police brutality. Honestly, I don't think it will change much. Technically, it is not illegal for a particular to film police in action. In practice however, anyone who's been to demonstrations knows that the police will not hesitate to "neutralize" any amateur videast.

That "piece of paper" has protected and maintained our republican form of government for well over 200 years, in spite of how much of a thrashing we've given it. Can the French claim the same stability?

Oh and btw, Il Dunce the Lesser was quoted by some congressmen as having said of our constitution as, "just a goddamn piece of paper." Not something you want a sitting US president to say of the core of our way of life.
