A small point of order here, if I may. No imperial overlord needs to grant 'Home Rule' to Scotland. If Scotland decides to break the Union with England, over which it currently enjoys consititional superiority (contrary to the popular perception) then I believe that is its own perogative.

If anything, the breaking of union would end the power that Scotland currently holds over England.

The fact is theres no other example of an exiled people remaing so attached to their land.

There is also no other example of any other people getting their ancesteral homland back after being gone for 2000+ years.

There are a half dozen ethnic enclaves in Spain that strive for self determination. Can you imagine offering Uganda or Madagascar to the Basques or Catalonians? The Kurds want their own country. Offer them some distant plot of land with no connection to their heritage. Or how about the Scots; instead of giving them home rule, let them move somewhere else and make a new country. Homeland, schmomeland; you should be glad we're offering you a place.

There is a difference.

1. Basques -still live there.
2. Catalonians - still live there.
3. Kurds - still live there.
4. Scots - you guessed it, still live there.

There is a difference between ask for self rule over an area you reside in as the majority for thousands of years and demanding it for an area you have no controls or ties to (nostalgia doesn't count for ****).

And the communities the Jews build in Palestine in the 20 odd years prior to the creation of Israel hardly count as historic ties, if that is the case why doesn't Israel annex NYC and Miami?
