Because natural language If...Then is not a perfect equivalent to a logical implication. You know as well as I do that if chicken have teeth it doesn't mean Paris is in Australia...

Actually, to me it does (and always has).
I'm not saying that the proper definition of the if...then construction would have occurred to me in a vacuum. I'm simply saying that even without a formal intoduction to logic it became apparent to me at a fairly young age what it meant. Doing logic puzzles of the kind found in little collection books is probably what inspired it.
Technically, I realised that you needed to break down any simple if A then B statement into 4 possible cases, only one of which falsified the proposition. I did not take the further step and reduce this conclusion to A -> B < = > B OR ~A12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET
