  • I've looked into this New Cronology thing some time back (it is possible even that I started a thread here). Not too deeply, but I looked. It's quite fascinating, actually.

The originators and supporters are not dumb, Fomenko is a professor of differential geometry in Moscow IIRC, Kasparov is a chess champion, and there are others. They might be crazy but they aren't dumb.

The theory may be contrived, but I've read some rebuttals and they are even worse. Serious scientists either can't or won't write a simple explanation of why Fomenko is wrong. Back when I read it, it was all either ad hominems or "oh really" arguments. The latter being "he says that this king was actually that king - oh really?"

RAF jets scrambled to intercept Russian bomber

        Michael Evans, Defence Editor

As military posturing goes, it has all the echoes of a classic Cold War contretemps. High above the North Atlantic, an RAF fighter jet offers a none-too-gentle reminder to a Russian aircraft that it is fast approaching British airspace.

But this was not a manoeuvre of the 1960s; rather, it was an incident off the British coast last week — and the first sight of the RAF’s £67 million Eurofighter Typhoon on duty.

In a display of muscle-flexing on both sides, when two Russian Bear-H aircraft appeared on British horizons last Friday, two Typhoons, based at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire, were scrambled to identify and shadow the unannounced arrivals, which turned back before reaching UK airspace.

That was not before a photo was snatched — which the Ministry of Defence, doubtless keen to parade its new hardware, released last night to show the “Bear alert” in action.

        [siro edits in picture]

Diplomatic tensions between London and Moscow — already stretched by the murder of Alexander Litvinenko — were given a further tweak as the Bear bombers headed towards Britain.

It was the first time that Russian bombers had threatened to penetrate British airspace since President Putin indicated, with no little chutzpah, that he had ordered his air force to resume long-range patrols around the world.

The arrival of the bombers over the North Atlantic forced the RAF to scramble its latest combat aircraft, the Typhoon, for the first time since becoming operational. The fighter jets were officially put on active standby last month, ready to protect Britain from hijacked airliners and other threats from the skies.

Last week President Putin said he was ending a 15-year suspension of bomber flights, and announced that 14 strategic aircraft had taken to the air from seven airfields across Russia. The tough new stance was illustrated somewhat graphically by pictures of Mr Putin fishing topless that had been released during the week.

There was irritation in the West: the announcement seemed to reflect President Putin’s growing antipathy towards his Western partners and his determination to show the world that Moscow was once again a power with which to be reckoned.

Yesterday he amplified that message, pledging to boost Russia’s armed forces and revive its once mighty military aircraft industry. “Russia has a very important goal, which is to retain leadership in the production of military equipment,” Mr Putin declared at an airshow, the biggest display of Russian air power since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The Russians started sending long-range bombers towards British airspace this year to snoop on a maritime exercise, recalling the Cold War days when Soviet strategic aircraft regularly tested Britain’s air defence responses.

Oh yeah! It's quite fascinating for boobies. It's a same sort of crap as Rezun (Suvorov) writes about USSR planned attack vs. Germany in 1941. But all that crap has nothing common with reality.

Sure they are not dumb, they are skilled in their field of knowledge (mathematics, chess), but as for knowledge of history they are well below zero. More than that - they are charlatans.

Then you really didn't try hard. There were hundreds of articles explaining where and when exactly Fomenko cheated. Even a history student can crush his so-called theory.
Hell, I can easily show where Kasparov cheated (he did it all they way to the end of his crappy story) in his article (the english version is provided by Sirotnikov above, btw, thank you very much).

              That picture is obviously photoshoped.

However, this one made yesterday (08.22.07) at MAKS-2007 airshow is not:

You do realize that model of plane actually exists within the Russian forces right?

Completed. Our government didn't kill him. Can you honestly say the same about yours wrt poor Anna and Alexander without repeating talking point propaganda?

Right. Tu-95 is still in service, just like B-52 still in service in USAF.

edited: btw, the B-52 you've sent to Moscow airshow this year, entered service in 60's and still in active service. It's amazing that this 40+ years old peice of junk is still flying.

                    Completed.
Really? When it was finished? All questions solved? No puzzles and mysteries anymore?

Give us 20-40 years, first. Or perhaps your glorious investigators solved JFK murder within less than a year?

However, I can even today claim that our government was not involved, because it's against the common sense. The person who benefited the most from the murder of these two persons is the main enemy of the government. And the government (ok, let it be Putin to make things clear) suffered the most (I mean political losses, not the grief of victim's relatives).

Actually Suvorov's theories seem much closer to the truth than Russian official history. And as far as I know, major historians have reformed their view of history following his discoveries.

There is nothing 'bad' for Russia about them, btw. No idea why you're knee jerking. I'm all for Stalin coming out of this smarter and sneakier than thought before.

They are not below zero on knowledge of history. I'm pretty sure that their petty theories aside they could both seporately pwn you in a history test. Kasparov knows more things by date that you will forget.

                          That picture is obviously photoshoped.
You know, what really pisses me off when talking to you is that you don't know where the line is.

I mean, sure you can say Kasparov is this or that, but then you begin acting stupid making ****** claims in defence of russia. Kasparov is not a loser in history. Stalin was not blindly relying on Hitler and the newspaper images are not faked.

You can defend your country. I do it too. But you have to stop before your claims get preposterous.
