Earlier in the timeline? Like academy/ensign/lieutenant range? Kirk, Spock & Bones must have met and worked together before Kirk got Enterprise. Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. - Ben Franklin

An "acadamy" series that threw them into the same class would just be bizarre. No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Star Trek is silly. There I said it.
The best way to go is to just to have it on the Enterprise during it's 5 year mission. But obviously use different plots than TOS. It would be like Batman. It's a re-imagining of the concept.
But would the geeky Trekkies accept this? They are so into the Canon that they cry when something doesn't fit into the "timeline". I admit the timeline is kind of interesting. But they ****ed it up too many times. Visit the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton if you want to see the timeline. I'm sure you can find it online, but you can't find hookers online. Oh wait, yes you can. Well you don't really need to come to Las Vegas then.
The problem I had with Enterprise is it seemed more advanced than TOS. I knew this would be a problem. TOS was in the 60's and the equipment they used that is supposedly 23rd century has already been surpassed by 2007 technology.. With the exception of impulse engines, warp drives, and transporters.
. But all those instruments that made the weird sounds. And I still remember the dial they had to measure distance. It roatated like those old clocks.
I say wipe the slate clean, completely. Completely erase the timeline and start fresh. Just like James Bond and Batman.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
