  • I feel violated

I mean, not sexually violated but something similar. It's quite a weird feeling, I wish I could record this, can it and sell this or something. Unique.

I got my pay cheque, and it seems my report for taxes didn't get their in time, so what they do is they'll give you an automatic tax, since we have progressive income tax, so they'll just rape your ass if you didn't send the tax 'card' in time.

Well, it wasn't simple in my case, I gave it as soon as it was possible, however, it just didn't make it. OK, I'll get that money back in tax returns in.. 2008 or something, so I didn't lose the money but still.. the tax rates just made me feel raped. It's not like I make a lot of money now, I'm just doing some work for Uni while I study there so.. some research stuff, so check this out:

    income tax percentage: 60% (!!!!!!!!!!!)
    pension+insurance (unempl) ~5%.

So the income tax on my salary was a cool 65%. That's brilliant. Considering my salary isn't huge to begin with, so say I make like 2000 euros... well, 1300 euros away in taxes, here you go sir, your ~700 euros is here.

I feel violated, I knew this would happen but.. when you see it in your own ... bankroll.. it kind of feels like damn, my anus is hurting. 65%.. that should be impossible no matter what anyway.. anything over 50% should be illegal. Well, life is sometimes surreal.

I experienced that once - I got my employer to regulate the deducted income tax the month after, so that I didn't have to wait a year or more.

Can't you just change your exemptions on your W4 to get more money back on the next check?

I've heard that there's a computer program that calculates how much you should have taken out of each check so that you don't have to pay any taxes at the end of the year.

I believe Pekka lives in Israel so it's not quite the same.

Still, what kind of sliding scale do they use that your "meager" amount gets taxed at 65% ? If someone were to make 200,000/yr the tax would be 105%, that doesn't seem right.

That's pretty sick. I thought Germany with just over 50% governmental rate (taxes+unemployment+pension+medicare insurances) is harsh, but Finland manages to beat even that.

padillah, this doesn't fall into normal scale, this is a special case, when your tax information didn't get in time when the salary is paid. So they'll make an automatic tax rape.

No...you misunderstand m8. He has to give to his employer a "Tax card" for want of a better work. This tax card is just a piece of paper that states the percentage to be deducted as income tax. If he fails to give his employer said card, he will be deducted 60% income tax + pension

Well, the automatic 60% is just to make sure you're not making too much money and taxed too little

So he is punished for not furnishing the card?

Yeah, what Asmodean said. Basically it's my own fault I got molested this hard, I tried to make it in time with a very short notice, but it just didn't make it in time. I'll get that money back, I'll just have to wait.

Still, I feel violated . To see 65% overall tax rape feels weird.

Pekka, you can't set the amt that you want taken out of your check after you turn in the card? How does it work?
