Strikers strike against their own employers.

I thought the whole purpose of a strike and the picket line was to prevent people from accessing the business while the workers are on strike.
No, the point is to deny the capitalist his labour.

It's some people's defence of consumerism as some sort of postmodern neoliberal Gospel that I find - profoundly - pathetic.
We are defending the right to sell unimpeded, not the right to buy.

Many posters behaved in a kantian manner, i.e. they began to 'universalize' some of my expressed (or implied) statements to demonstrate how absurd they were (with varying degrees of wit).
So then your principles of right and wrong can be summed up with: it's kinda wrong, but it's trivial so it must be ok?

I HEREBY SUBMIT THIS THREAD AND ALL OF ONCLE BORIS' POSTS TO BE AN EXAMPLE OF HOW USELESS STUDYING FILOSOFY IS AT A POST-SECONDARY LEVEL.
I would offer a game theoretical explanation of why studying philosophy is not useless, but that's not for this thread.
"The purpose of studying economics is not to acquire a set of ready-made answers to economic questions, but to learn how to avoid being deceived by economists."

Or rather, it's my money and I want the freedom to spend it how and where I choose. If I want to spend it on a sunday then there shouldn't be a law telling me I can't especially since you know it's only there to defacto support a religion.

          • Strikers can't block access to private property. That's a criminal offense.

Strikers can picket and attempt to persuade costumers to go some where else but if they use violence or block access to private property then they are causing harm and thus can be/should be arrested. I recall the grocery workers strike here a few years back where a bunch of the grocery strikers got tossed in jail for attempting to intimidate shoppers into not shopping at the store.

I like how you edited it to make this logical. Before the edit your post made no sense.

You model yourself after other people, I forge my own way. That's the difference between a philosopher and a man.

                    • you can only drink on the streets on the Las Vegas strip and downtown. and in New Orleans you can drink on bourbon street.

Only recently had the dealerships in Vegas wanted to open on Sundays. I'm not sure what became of that. I don't pay attention to dealerships that much.

I like the American way better. Arrest the ****ers for destroying private property then let them sit in jail until they learn the difference between free speech and attacking other people. Then as a parting screw off you slap them with a nice fat fine.

Typically in this state it is something like restitution to the victim, a fine (up to several thousand) paid to the state, then being forced to pay into the crime victims' restitution fund (helps pay victims of crime whose attackers never get caught), plus probation.
