  • Which One is More Successful?

On one side you have a CEO of some cool company. He's healthy, has a good house, a couple of great cars. His salary is excellent but, of course, he isn't all about material goods. He's been to Africa and Asia, Tibet and Luxembourgh and even Helsinki where polar bears roam the streets. He has drinking buddies on all continents, a wordly man with a fulfilled life. No kids.

On the other hand you have some guy who never left his hometown, never got much education and thinks Iraq and Iran are the same country. House is mortgaged, he is scraping to make ends meet. Has 5 kids.

It depends on the persons. Did they want the life they're living? Just because one has money and the other has a family, that doesn't make one more successful than the other. It all depends on what one want from life. If person A never wanted a family and likes to travel, then he's successful, and if all B wanted was a family, then he's just as successful.

Well-behaved goes to the success of the parent.

Ah, but I'm asking for your opinions. Given your set of values, which one is more successful?

If I ended up as person B, then I would feel like I've failed. I want to see the world and I don't want to end up with kids

For most people, "A"is the more obvious choice since we equate financial success with success generally. Plus "B" lacking education and world knowledge--- doesn't sound attractive to me

But finances isn't everything when it comes to success. Last year I CHOSE to move to a job making less money since I work so much less and can spend more time with family-- I consider myself much more successful as a result

Success is relative to a person's individual goals and values.
To us, it is the BEAST.

'A' probably has about 20 kids in as many countries that he doesn't know about.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
