Yeah, but we didn't fill out one of the surveys, if we did that one and were worse than the UK we would be last and they would be 2nd to last.

Of the countries listed, UK and US are significantly below everyone else though.

More seriously, the constant screeching of the tabloids about the state of the NHS, schools, immigrants, yobbery etc probably plays a part in this. Brits are materially better off then ever before, but are also quite convinced that society is crumbling around them.

Alot of the survey was about perceptions and if you are 8 and are constantly being told that you live in a crime ridden hell hole, you might think your liffe is a bit rubbish, even though you are objectivley one of the luckiest kids in the world
