For that very reason, my engineering program requires a certain number of writing classes from the faculty of arts and for most disciplines, a technical writing class from the engineering department.
I think all universities do.
I remember the technical writing course I took -- the arts students were confused by all of the rules and took some extra time. I was paired with a couple pre-law kids for a group project and I basically had to write the whole thing. Many of them kept spelling "write" as "right", for instance.

That's...pretty bad. I lucked out though - they don't make chemical students take tech comm
...not to mention, they needed help with the "technical" aspect of using MS Word.

My poly sci degree has had more positive influence on my salary than my computer engineering background.
As a technician, my salary peaked quite early. But due to my training in handling people and communicating, I was quickly fast tracked into technical management where the larger salaries and bonuses were available to me.
So make fun of those degrees as much as you'd like, I'll just sit back and laugh.
Poly sci at the time was the path to going to law school, which I guess is another reason to heap abuse on it.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

The writing structure of a formal science paper puts filosofy and other papers to shame.
I will not deny that my true feelings have been somewhat expressed in this thread, I am not particularly serious on a lot of it.
But I can't let this pass. Science papers are just fill in the blank worksheets.
What's really funny is how badly written this paragraph is.
Despite misspelling "there," it is perfectly fine.

Just because you may earn more than someone does not make that person non productive. I make a hell of alot more than every hard science major I know, and most of the engineers.

If I start selling white markers tomorrow, I'm pretty sure I'll go bankrupt in a few days...Becuase who needs white markers. Just like, who needs Poliscientists?

You can credit poli sci for that, but I know many engineers who did the exact same thing without the arts background. My father's one of them, and I'm sure what you're doing is important and all, but I doubt you're managing a $10B project for one of the US' largest oil companies.
Anecdotal evidence is fun.

You know I'll be getting back to you when I have to go to another interview, asking for advice and being all silly and nervous. An interview I hope to score soon by the way.
A tip, as you know these things a lot better, I scored this consultancy job (limited time) by being the first one interviewed, and after asked why I should get the job, I just told them blatantly that I'm simply better than the rest of the applicants. They cancelled the round of interviews and we have a contract now The first time I score an hourly wage of 35 euros
By the way, the other applicants hate me now. I don't care. I had the first grabs, so I took it. Hmm, the point was, I came late to that meeting (I seriously got lost on my way there, because it was a very complex building) and I thought it was informal but they looked like they were serious business. I looked like the little brother of eminem. I figured, since I came late, clearly dressed wrong, didn't even have my notes with me, I thought I should just say I'm the best, period, so I can afford this kidn of behaviour. Turned out true
In da butt.

Even my SO, who is halfway done a chemical engineering degree, is doing technical management already. He did two workterms doing real technical stuff and he's moved beyond that...now he's doing project management stuff.

Rah, your post demonstrates a clear lack of critical thinking.
a) Anecdotes are not data
b) It presumes that your abilities (whatever they may be) in management were increased by your poli sci education. I have my doubts that this was actually the case.

Dude, if you got a real degree (eg, engineering), and ended up in any form of government job, you are certifiably the worst in your field.
They are paying back a debt.
The Military is merely an extension with lower requirements than civil servants.
Probobly true of the Canadian Forces, the US Officer Corps is far more educated than the civil service. We are required to be.
In the Navy? That's rich.
Pay charts are available to the public. But I will note that I made this the day I graduated, I didn't wallow around for a year looking for a job or decide to hide in grad school.
How did your education contribute to what you now do?
ahem...
their jobs are to manage people and, to their everlasting horror, write reports/breifs/summaries/professional papers.
