There should be some sort of reward for this sort of content-free lameness.

                  Not really.

As for myself, I am firmly in the "none" camp.

I feel more comfortable about that now that my brother is headed toward "two".
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

                    Astrology or Astronomy?

Those are two very differnt animals.

One (Astronomy) deals with the movement and effect of heavenly bodies.

The other (Astrology) deals with the idea that personal information can be derived from the placement of heavenly bodies.

One is hard science, yes. The other, not so much.

What are you trying to say?

                    Tom P.

EDIT: I just realised, I'm not sure I do get his point.

or that in spite of fancy numbers economy is still a social science

Hey, I looked it up. Admitedly, in Wikipedia, but I looked it up... and promptly misunderstood it.

Crap, going back and reading it again I see what it's saying better. Natural sciences use scientific method to study nature, social sciences use scientific method to study human behavior, and formal sciences use a different methodology altogether.

I suppose if I tried hard enough I could find some way around to getting it in there but I know when I'm caught.

See JM, when you say stupid stuff and get caught just own up and learn from it.

                          • I have one, and that's all I wanted. I really didn't think about whether it would be good for the child/children when I made my decision. I wanted one because I wanted to experience being a father, but I didn't want to change a lot of diapers and pay for two or more kids to go to college etc...

Yeah, but it's not generally considered a natural science, which is what I was trying to infer.

I suppose I could try and grasp at straws with the whole "social science is a subset of Natural science" but I know when I've put my foot in my mouth.

JM was, at that particular second in time, trying to assert that we understand natural sciences more than anything else. I was simply trying to assert that we understand more about formal sciences than anything else simply because it is abstract and, thus, finite and definable. Nature is not finite nor very definable. Heck, if we can't tell a species hasn't gone extinct how can we possibly claim to understand it?

                              His argument has since changed.

Believe me, there are some days when I only want one.

There are some days when I think I may come home and only have one left.

My son tries as hard as he can to get his mother to understand that he's right and she needs to give in. I'm not sure he's gonna make it to 6yrs.
