Stoli for a straight vodka. Zubrowka for a flavoured variant.

Unless they've upped their game with a their triple-distilled version, I always thought Smirnoff was a toy vodka.

In 1993 Chopin created the world’s first super premium vodka, and the luxury vodka category was born. We’ve remained at the industry’s forefront ever since, driven by a guiding purpose: to show the world that well-made, ingredient-forward vodka is worthy of being sipped and savored in the same way as whiskey or wine.

Heard good things about this Polish potato vodka.

Surprises me, Grapa or Marc are vastly more expensive than Vodka.

i find fault with this for two reasons: it's difficult at best to find a properly made vodka at more than an hundred ten proof. a few are out there, but not a whole lot. secondly, the poles are far bigger drunks than the russians could ever hope to be. she may be in fact talking about grain neutral spirits.

as for my weapons of choice: Hangar One, Stoli, and austin's own Tito's Handmade.

I've never really seen the point of flavorless vodka.

If I want something that tastes like fruit juice, I'll drink fruit juice.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Ciroc is a French "vodka" which is infact actually a grapa being marketed as a vodka. In California too this has been a trend as there are lots of left over second run grape skins and flesh which has already had the juice crushed out to make wine.

The wineries want to make use of these leftovers so they pour water on the crushed skins and fruit, let it ferment, then filter and distill the whole thing thing. That is of course the traditional method for making grapa but it seems most consumers don't know what grapa is so they are marketing it as grape vodka.

Except for Kalanov, which is the cheapest, crappiest Indian vodka.

Smirnoff is a loyal mixer workhorse, and Smirnoff Export Strength (100 proof) always does the trick . Gordons is cheap and very good for the price. Skyy isn't bad, and better than Svedka, Finlandia, and Danzka, but Absolut probably owns this price range. Three Olives is interesting, but it's English, and drinking English vodka is weird.

A notch above would be the trusty shooters and martini vodkas. Ketel One is overrated, Grey Goose deserves its reputation, and Belvedere is up there too. Level is good, but overmarketed. Ciroc is good, and undermarketed. My personal favourite here, though, would be Zyr. I like Stoli, but it's overrated too, and carries too much yuppie baggage. Stoli does do flavours pretty well (Stoli Bluberri ). I hear good things about Vox, but have never tried it. Hangar One lived up to its hype, though I've never tried it unflavoured.

For sipping, though, I like Armadale, Chopin, and perhaps my favourite vodka of them all, Jewel of Russia. Straight from the freezer, out of a chilled glass When I'm feeling particularly wealthy, I shoot the stuff too
Whatever's the cheapest, usually Morrinov (Morrison's own brand ). That's when I feel like vodka. Usually it's bottle-conditioned ale or a good egg.
