id say this isnt every idiots kegger, but clearly we disagree.

That's really the whole point. Once you start funding parties, you're either playing favoritism, or you're going to fund a ton of things you find idiotic (or worse).

Neither is a good idea. I'm sure you can think of at least a few parties you wouldn't want funded with your taxes... right?

No, when I say this isnt just a kegger, I mean there is a serious case that from the POV of the state this is different. I just dont care to elaborate that case right now, and will just agree to disagree.

Got it... "My idiotic kegger is more important than yours"...

And of course it isn't "just" a kegger, as they have the whole damn Orange Bowl rented out for people to dance on someone's grave. It's more along the lines of some Roman orgy in the Coloseum. (Minus all the fun stuff...)

Actually I take that back. Andronicus and the Hippodrome would probably make a better analogy... if only they could get ahold of Castro somehow. Maybe his corpse can be extradicted for the celebration?

Evidently some people cant just agree to disagree.

                  Here's a hint:

If you want to just agree to disagree, simply don't start the debate. There's no point. You stated your opinion, I stated mine. It's obvious we disagree. That you insisted on starting the discussion between us belies a motive incompatible with your currently expressed position of uninvolvement. As does your continued participation in the interaction.

I do begin to see more clearly why you hold the views you do in this case though. You want preferential treatment (from parties you are actively antagonizing even) that you don't extend to others yourself. You want state funded parties for your pet causes, yet would deny them to others, and you want to "agree to disagree" in debates you go out of your way to start. Neither is a consistant position.

They are planning on burying Castro at the Orange Bowl?

Yah... if Hoffa can be buried at Giants stadium... why not?

btw, Hoffa was compacted in the trunk of a car....

Seems rather like overkill to bury him at Giants stadium and then compact him in the trunk of a car. (Not to mention really inefficient.)

                              Oooh, that's a bit of a twistee.

Atheletes can earn a living in Cub...they make just as much as (...or just as little as...) everyone else.

Hooker is not necessarily the best job. It's just in Cuba, where everyone makes the same, doctors and baseball pitchers have no chance to supplement their income with tips. Hookers, waiters and cab drivers do.

Excuse me, if you are a citizen of the City of Miami, and you dont want this party subsidized you have every right to oppose it, and I encourage you to do so. If, OTOH, you have a different party that you think warrants public support, you also have the right support that. The decision will be made through the democratic process. I did NOT post intending to discuss WHY the elected leaders of the City of Miami might support one over the other - I merely took issue with the assertion that BECAUSE it was a party, it was inevitably unfair to have state funds spent on it. Which I do not believe. Govts celebrate events that are meaningful to the citizenry as a whole (and objections from some part of the citizenry are not incompatible with elected officials thinking its important to all) Now I do have an opinion about whether its appropriate, but I have tried to avoid getting into that substantive debate.
