Those whom the gods would destroy, they first make the front runner. Front runners become everyone's target. For example, Howard Dean in the last election cycle.

Hillary is undeniably No. 1 in national polls of Democrats. She is attempting to use this to djinn up an aura of invincibility. However, she's far down in the polls in both Iowa and in New Hampshire. So, once the actual voting commences, she be battle torn and will soon be 0-2. She, like Dean, will be viewed as a loser and dumped on the trash heap of politics.

Ah, but you forget: Kerry was the front-runner before Dean; that's what made Dean's surge to frontrunner status so newsworthy. And if his subsequent collapse proved anything, it's that, in politics, passion and integrity lose to money and organization, every time.

If anyone's in the Dean seat right now, it's Obama.

As for the OP: there are scary Democratic candidates out there -- soulless insiders like Biden, nut jobs like Kucinich -- but there isn't a Republican running whom I would prefer to Hillary. Not that I'm all that crazy about her, but compared to the likely GOP field she's a dream candidate.

The more I hang around here, the more the Hillary loathing seems like classic, Psych 101 castration anxiety -- unrelated to reality, but massively revealing of the neuroses of those who express it.
