So, what should be the difference between educating smart and stupid people?

So all we need to do to raise most people above the average is to make one person really, really, really stupid.
When it was announced that David Beckham was moving to Los Angeles, there was an interview with some guy in an English pub. He said something like "It's probably a good thing for the Spaniards that he's leaving. It'll raise their national IQ a little bit."
The encouragement of wisdom requires an advanced knowledge of history. Never has the aphorism about the fate of those who ignore history been more true.
All of the above are antithetical to the mindset that prevails in today's schools at every level. The gifted should not be taught to be nonjudgmental; they need to learn how to make accurate judgments. They should not be taught to be equally respectful of Aztecs and Greeks; they should focus on the best that has come before them, which will mean a light dose of Aztecs and a heavy one of Greeks.
Err... I didn't read the entirety of the article, but it is a bit ironic that an article about preparing an elite to be more learned makes such an ignorant statement. We have found that the Aztec had very robust philosophical discourse in their culture and today we have more texts of Aztec philosophy than we do of Greek philosophy.
I realize he is going for a "classical liberal education", or whatnot, but in the process he shows he doesn't know all that much about history. Which is kind of amusing.
Unless he is (though I can't see it) deriding the Aztec practice of mandatory education for all youth at 15. Though the Aztec did have their elites as well in spite of this.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)

What a dumb thing to say while it's obvious it will only drag more people below the average.

I like to split it up so that simple minds like yours can process it more easily.
To be honest, I won't defend myself at all here. The last math class I took was AP Calc and that was four years ago. I passed only barely because I lacked the motivation to stay awake in class. My mind is not one geared towards math, and while I can understand the concepts if they're drilled in enough, I've had to use math so little since high school that the knowledge has, unfortunately, been lost to me.
A gaussian distribution has a mode at the same location as its mean and median.
The gaussian distribution is symmetric about its mode, which is all you need to prove that property.

I have noticed since your time here that you can be shockingly arrogant about your education. I do wish you'd bear in mind that you are not the only one with an education or a brain. Do you carry on with your colleagues like that?

Well, Lorizael did start with some attitude at first too. "You sure about that?" and "Median, mode, mean - they're all the same, right? ". When I first read it I viewed it like a person who doesn't know basic statistics and still acts with some arrogance towards others.
Maybe I just misinterpreted what you (Lorizael) meant, but I know that my gut instinct was to be condescending as well.
So I'm with KH.

Is it any wonder that to "PHD" has become common parlance?
