I think that although 'celebrities' are by now pretty much without many rights anyway when they speak in public, the same should never be true for non-celebrities, nomatter how pathetic their views are. And conning people in a movie could have very negative effects in their life, if they are the types he is looking out for (ie adolescents with teenage views)

I don't mind Jackass, since the vast majority of their shenanigans involve inflicting pain on themselves. At least, that was the case in the first movie, which is all I've seen of them. Annoying golfers with airhorns doesn't grate on me like setting up phony interviews and acting like a modern-day minstrel show.

I almost added a qualifier about that. When they're just doing idiotic things to themselves, fine. That can even be kind of amusing.

When they're ****ing with other people, I find it disgusting. I once had the displeasure of seeing an episode where they put a pretend baby-in-bassinet on top of their car and drove off. People were freaking out, trying to get them to stop, etc. Awful.

My brother-in-law likes Jackass, unfortunately.

Yes, Arrian, baby-on-the-roof is rather crude and doesn't sound funny. However, Jackass also doesn't put on lame "relevant social satire" pretensions. As the title suggests, they are just throwing any semblance of their own dignity or self-respect in the trash for cheap laughs, and don't mind admitting it. I like their honesty, at least. And somehow, their willingness to put themselves through agonizing pain sort of makes up for the relatively mild obnoxiousness to others, in my eyes.

Borat is the epitome of awesome. If one does not find Borat funny, then such a person lacks the ability to recognize awesomeness and is devoid of awesomeness.

Jackass was funny for a little bit, but it got old. Zapping your balls with a taser is only funny so many times.

Borat is funny because he is not only making jokes, but making social, political, and cultural commentary at the same time. I think his points are lost on a lot of people. Also, I think a lot of Americans don't like seeing their own negative qualities exposed, even if it's just a bunch of other ignorant dumbasses that he's making fun of.
