Borat - lost on some folks

I think it's pretty safe to say, that our societies here in the west have some problems of dealing with issues.

For example, this movie Borat... a funny movie, right? To many of us, Borat has been a fan favourite for some years, with his adventures in Britain, but now that he hit big, the comedian has gotten himself under fire.

His comedy is daring, but not outrageous IMO, as in truly insulting. So what is lost in some audience? The fact, that the whole character and the scenarios are like candid camera, they make fun of the others. It's not one guy saying funny stuff and insulting people, it's the reaction in other people. THat's what Borat used to be, some of it is lost in the movie format, but that's what it is. It's not Borat being racist, it is about our society and our reactions.

This somehow is totally lost with so many. Not only has he been accused of being a huge racist, but now he has bodyguards in one of the festivals or what ever it is that he is going into, because he has recieved numerous death threats.

What can I say? We have people living amongst us, that are so freaking stupid, that they would not only not get good comedy, but they'd be so upset, that they'd send death threats to the man. How ****ing stupid do you have to be? Those people, those super upset people are the biggest joke in the whole Borat routine. They are the punch line, and they don't get it. But that's why it is funny. Because they don't get it.

These people are the hardcore tolerance fanatics sometimes too. They are so tolerant, that they are ready to kill those who don't agree with their style. Tolerance is also lost with them, as in it is not single directional thing. It's not 'you should tolerate me, but I won't tolerate you'.

So it's big pile of crap, and that's why I applaud Borat, and I hope he continues to mess with little minds of people, who get all offended. Who was it that made it so, that people have the right to be not offended anyway? It's like ooh, the biggest thing that can happen, someone getting offended? So what? Big deal.

good job there.. I just think it's pretty stupid, that he is getting these death threats. Surely some of them are simple nutty people, who do that to everyone, but some of them must be genuinely doing it, because they are so upset about his work. It just boggles my mind, how people can be so uptight.

Oh, and they're planning on making the next movie with Bruno!!

Bruno is maybe my least favourite character, but with the stakes so high already, it might be truly even more daring

I still remember few classics, where Bruno goes to a fashion show and does his dance, and where he goes to the beach and interviews these wrestlers, that was pure gold In fact, someone said in an interview, that during this very scene, the camera man got punched by the wrestlers ..

Also I should note, that I think the Borat that was on the series, both in the States as well as in Britain, I think that was more funny than the movie. The movie format doesn't sit so well with Borat.

In fact, he overdid the anti-semitism thing in the movie; he hardly did any of that in the British series, and was still funny as hell.

I prefer Ali G, though.

I don't care about the antisemitism, but the movie was just not funny. The part where he and fat man were fighting naked was just plain gross. Bleh.

I don't see the appeal of Borat. Nor do I think much of Jackass.
