The anwser is not much. 3.5 years ago the Generals said they'd need 400,000-500,000 to effectively control Iraq after the invasion and Bush fired them because they didn't tell them what he wanted to hear. I understand that he just fired some more generals who told them that additional troops wouldn't accomplish what he's hoping for. It's also true that those guys can be seen as fall guys for the failure which is Iraq but it seems self serving to fire them after the administration has ignored their advice and over ruled them almost every chance it has gotten.
