You want to know something else bad about this?
Medical examiner ruled it a suicide. Do you know what that means? Insurance won't pay to have that boy buried. That's bull****. I don't know what the boy's parents can do about it, if anything, or what they even feel up to trying to do.

I'll tell you this again, though. It isn't a laughing matter, and hopefully some of you sick bastards don't have anything happen to some of your young relatives.

    And thanks, Cort.

Yeah, right. When I was just about the same age my brother and one of his friends, having watched "Hang'em High" decided it would be great fun to get little brother in a noose and stand him on the edge of the back of a chair just to see how someone dangling from the end of a noose would look. While trying to get me to pee myself by playing at kicking the chair away the chair fell and I found myself trying to keep myselkf alive by clenching my neck muscles to keep the rope from choking off my air and brain-blood supply. Fortunately they decided that Mom would not have reacted well to them showing my dead carcass, with my hands inexplicably tied behind my back, so one of them picked me up by my feet while the other slipped the rope off of my neck.

Oh, BTW. Last month my brother died. He hung himself.

No offense, but I guess that your brother knew what he did which this kid did't know.

Anyway, well, condolences while not the word I was looking for, that is the best I can give - sorry, too drunk and tired (Iwas supposed to sleep now)
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

No, he had been mentally ill for 7 years. When it affected his work the Virginia Board of Medicine suspended his license to practise medicine. He continued to go down the hill for awhile, but had seemed to stabilize this past year. He wanted to meet with them to see what he could do to get his license back, but since he had acquired a history of non-compliance he didn't get his meeting. He disappeared for a few weeks, until the Richmond police found his body in a vacant lot.
I had tried to warn him that I didn't think that he was going to get what he wanted. I had tied to prepare him for the worst and to get him thinking about taking a different direction with his life, but he wouldn't listen, my words seemed to not even register on his conciousness.

It can be hard to know what to do sometimes to try and help people best. Especially if things really are difficult for them (no offense, but many of the kids who are into suicide don't really see the big picture).

I am sorry for your brothers death.

It sounds like you moved on from those issues like you have from some others, that is a good thing I think Dr Strangelove.

I had no idea Angie Dickinson was this age.

                Burt Bacharach's daughter commits suicide

Fri Jan 5, 8:06 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The only child of pop songwriter
                Burt Bacharach and actress
Angie Dickinson has committed suicide after a lifetime struggling with a form of autism, a spokeswoman for the former couple said on Friday.

Nikki Bacharach, 40, died "quietly and peacefully" at her home in the northern Los Angeles municipality of Thousand Oaks on Thursday night, a statement said.

The spokeswoman declined to specify the cause of death.

She was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome following her premature birth in 1966, and her father recounted her struggles that year in the song "Nikki." Sufferers often have obsessive routines and extreme sensitivity to sounds, smells and tastes.

Her parents, who divorced in 1980, had no other children together.

Bacharach, 78, who with Hal David composed such songs as "What the World Needs Now Is Love" and "Alfie," has three children from subsequent marriages.

Dickinson, 75, is probably best known for her role as sultry Sgt. Suzanne "Pepper" Anderson in the 1970s cop show "Police Woman."

Most life insurance won't pay for suicide.

                      Hmm...

Never thought of children having life-insurances.

In any case: they can at least pay for the bloody funeral. It's not like you're going to waste yourself in order to cash in on a lavish funeral-banquette.

And I would think that the insurer knows one thing for sure: the risk of a person dying is 100 %.

                      Bastards.

And the medical examiner just screwed them.

About this kid death, I wonder if he knew that being hanged kills you and it was all an accident, or if maybe he wasnt even aware of death, and hanged himself (not being an accident) without knowing what that would do to him

I'm not sure. I think the parents just have a lousy insurer. What can the medical examiner do about the fact the boy was hanged?

I do wonder why he doesn't just write: death by asyphication (sp?) or some such. I guess it's the police's task to find out if it's murder, suicide or accidental death, not some medic's.

It was an off and on thing for 7 years. In 1999 I received a call from his wife with the news that he had detonated a home made pipe bomb against himself. There were several suicide attempts and several "disappearences" over the intervening years, He shacked up with crazy women. By this year we were all emotionally drained. I did what I could. Every once and awhile I think of something I might have said that might have kept him from the inevitable, but then I think that I just don't know if he would have ever listened. I don't bother over it for long.

You know what really bothers me? I last saw him this last summer. He was living in St. Petersburg, Florida. I came down for vacation and stayed at a time share in Orlando. The clerks insisted that I bring my family to a Pizza lunch. I had arranged to meet my brother in St. Petersburg later that day. Salesmen descended on us pitching for a sort of "upgrade" to the time share. I knew that it was BS, but the salespeople I kept up the pressure and I became anxious that I might miss the meeting. I was almost panicking. Those bastards made me pay $5000 to see my brother one last time.
Do not under any circumstances buy into a "Suntara" timeshare. They're scum.

What kids used to do here was to hold their breath then have someone deliver a strong blow to the chest. The pressure from the blow is transmitted to the veins leading to the heart leading to a sudden surge in inflow pressure followed by a decrease. It's the secondary decrease that leads to passing out.
