  • Not 100% sure, but I think it has to do with helping others and losing self/etc, also spiritual components.

    • I do know, despite my lack of experience in most things, that endorphin rushes go away, get lost to memory, are extremely fleeting. If you build your life on them, you are shallow and empty. They are really pointless, as the person who experienced them no longer exists.

I'd say it's about feeling good and fulfilled overall. Generally, that means living a life that's in accordance with your deep seated values, and without perpetually attempting to have more, more, more.

When JM says it's selflessness and spirituality, I don't think it's that universal. It certainly fits JM (at least his online persona), and would fit many people. But living an exactly opposite life might make one happy, if one has the exact opposite values of JM's.

In any case, happiness isn't some kind of constant orgasm IMO. The way I define it, it's a state of mind when you're at peace with yourself, and where life's easy.

          My life is pretty easy.
I like it just fine I suppose.
Although I just got my SAT scores back. Not as good as I'd hope, but it put me out of my super happy mood.

It's not that I want to die young, I just don't care if I do.
Usually this "I don't care" attitude is a sign of something else. It's acting out because they're trying to avoid something in their lives which they don't feel they can deal with. Obviously that is layman's advice which can be ignored if you please but I think talking to a trained councilor would be benificial. She could help you understand why you feel certain ways and maybe come up with more productive means of dealing with those feelings.

What'd you get? If it matters SATs aren't the be all and end all. In fact if you do two years at your local community college then transfer to UC or CSU then you don't even need to submite any SAT scores. You just need to complete certain classes and get a certain GPA.

I meantioned those two university systems since I know you're in California.

                      Uhh... California? I think not.
Anyway, since it's now out of 2400, 1780.

But it doesn't matter because I have to take it next year anyway. I only had to this year because of some nerd program. Hah.
I did better than I did when I took it in 7th grade tho.

Oh, and the "I don't care" thing isn't an angry one. It's just a lack of concern, still happy.

                      • I took mine only once, although I could have taken it again.

                        You might as well though.

                              • I think the life of a pirate is more appealing than the life of a hobo.
