a manly type hug (following a manly type handshake) and followed by a strong manly smack on the back / fist in the shoulder.
Or... if we're good friends and in a humorous mood, we could fake a "sexy" hug.
This kind of "gay" humor quite grows on you in the army.

some of the stuff we did in the navy was cruel. We had this one guy who never had sex and never masturbated (he had religious reasons for doing so- he said he just had wet dreams). He was so uptight and conservative. Guys would slap him on the ass or pinch his ass. I never did that, as I thought it was too cruel.
I had a woman pinch my ass because the thought I was some innocent person who never had that happen (although she was right at the time
)
