I've slept in my vehicle for a couple of nights, while employed in a managerial position.
I've been between jobs where my meal for the day was a potato.
Not the kind of things I rush out to announce, but reiterates what I already have said many times, including this thread.
It can happen to you. It can happen to anyone. It does.

I can't speak about India, or anywhere but where I've been. I can tell you this with certainty, you better have compassion.
It's not always guaranteed fun and games and the latest graphics card for your pc.
You better pay attention to me this time. I'm serious as a heart attack.

Do not take things for granted.

Very well. It shall be as you say.

But there was a rather larger question I wanted to ask you, and which I've been wanting to ask since I found out how to bypass the autofilter - most people, when they see the word ****ing, automatically substitute the appropriate curse word. I'd request that even the use of wildcards as substitutes for curses be banned - that would make the policy more consistent.

I do give food to beggars sometimes, when I happen to have it on me. At least they'll get a good meal for that day. You can't say that about the money.

But I've had a bad experience even with that. When I was sitting in the car when I was a child, when my parents had gone out for two minutes, I saw a poor beggar boy, and I had a bag full of samosas with me. I took pity on him, and gave him one. It was quite a big one - it'd have made a very heavy snack for that guy, maybe even a small meal.

Within half a minute, the boy returns with half a dozen other very young kids, who all start pestering me for more samosas. WTF? I just gave you food and now you start acting like that? Rank ingrates! I just ignored them. But this is one thing I'm not going to give up on. Even today, I give food to beggars when I see them on the street, if I have any on me.

It's not so much knowing that it is a swear word, as actually seeing it. For two reasons: Firstly if a young child (say a child of one of our regular posters) were to stumble upon it, seeing ****ing is different from seeing a swear word, since they don't know what the swear word is. Secondly, many older people just don't like hearing or seeing it. Seeing the actual work looks a lot more vulgar than ****, as to me at least, stars represent someone being angry, not the actual word.

This is obviously when it comes to abuse of swear words, when you're not using them for their meaning. On the latter I'd be all for allowing it, but it is still against the rules. Indeed, one of my favourite poems includes the f word as meaning sex.

Anyways, let us stop the threadjack, if you'd like to discuss it further, please PM me, however I don't set the rules. This is a private site, and the owners have said they don't want swearing, and thus installed a filter. Bypassing the autofilter is against the rules, whereas censored words aren't.

Almost never. They are all over downtown, and we do have our "regulars." So once I opened the floodgates, there would be no end.

I was out in Pasadena, and slipped one there a little something 'cause it was Christmas.

Last night I was out with my friend's family. When we passed by one, my friend said, "We gave to the last guy." The beggar replied, "If you think about it, I'm the last guy." Good line...but no money.

As far as the pissant and horse**** discussion, it'll be a sad day when we're reduced to "Fudge!', and "Well, hockey puck!"

and btw, we have over 10,000 homeless in our city. And many more beggers than that. I don't give. I'm not going to give a bull**** reason (though it's fair to say most of them will use it for drugs and alcohol). I just fear I may hit hard times, so I save any penny I got. I already can see we are heading towards a recession. So I like to be prepared. I don't even give money to myself. I stretch every penny I get, and don't buy something unless I absolutely need it. The exception being my computer and civ4.

I just get them a couple of cans of strong lager. Might as well save them a trip.

I've never given to beggars, as the only beggars I've seen where I live are these:

And whenever I see one I increase the speed to get away from the noise ASAP. When they stand in front of the store I came to visit, then I'll delay my visit to some other day
This space is empty... or is it?

I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Different profession. I give to buskers, who are offering a service. Some beggers are real, but I'm not giving to junkies and special-brew wrecks.

When I'm loading / unloading my musical gear I sometimes have to give to avoid the chance of getting stuff nicked or the car smashed. Hence I tend to see most beggers round my way as criminals.

Either beggars are rare round your way, or you have a lot of bucks, but such a policy could be very expensive in London.

Seeing as 'what they choose to do with it' round my way is often to get drunk and abuse and harrass passers-by, I don't take the view that its OK to support junkies. In one location I know, they go to a nearby housing estate to do their business, leaving dirty needles around for playing children to discover and have accidents with. So when older people from these estates go down and kick the crap out of these junkies, it's a public beating I'm happy to see.
