  • Do You Give to Beggars?

Well, I must say I didn't see any beggars in my city during this holiday season. But it just occured to me that even when they are around I usually pass them without giving them any spare change or anything. How about you?

    I'll give them a smoke.

Depends. If they are just homeless, "alternative folks" (but not too much) or just poor persons trying to save their days, yes. I always give 50 cents to the old lady playing her .. whatever it's called in english

I NEVER give money to kids (their "parents" should be jailed for life) and gypsies. Expecially to gypsies, I always bump in them buying beer at the local stores with all those small coins people give them.
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

        I very rarely do.
Really depends on my mood / beggar's appearance.

I remember though this one time which left a mark, when I was 10 years old, when I was standing in line in a Mc'Donalds, and some beggar came in with a basket full of change, hoping to get a meal.

He came out short... and was really sad. That was quite striking.

I seem to recall that someone standing in line, "pitched in" and either added the difference, or bought him the entire meal.

He's already poor, and he has to eat junk food as well

Any time a beggar asks me for something, I give them money, not neccesarily tons, but some.

I am not the most pious individual anymore and I am unsure if G-D exists but this is the way I see it.

If someone begs, either they need it or are taking such a blow to their pride to ask, that it is no small thing.

So if someone asks you for charity, give them some. If G-D exists he will make up for it in the end and then some and if not, you could afford the loss anyway.

I like to give to the ones playing musical instruments/performing in some way. Music brightens my day, and is definitely worth any spare change I have.

I never do, but then again I don't currently have much of an income.

                      I'll pass.

I feel we have an obligation to help others in a way I can not justify or easily quantify, but the fact that this feeling persists makes me think it has some merit.

I'm with Shiva. A little music. Maybe some juggling. Acrobatics. If they have a dancing bear, I'm hooked.

I always give. If they are scamming me, well, thats on them: I'd rather help a fraud than pass over someone who in fact does need the money.
