New Zealand is a part of Australia. New Zealand has always been a part of Australia.

The whole sheep joke is ridiculous considering Australians have over 10x the amount of sheep we do.
sigh
No they don't...
(million head)
People's Republic of China 170.9
Australia 102.7
European Union (15 nation) 99.3
former Soviet Union 65.3
India 62.5
Iran 54.0
Sudan 49.0
Zealand New Zealand 39.9
So they have 2.5 times as many but 5 times the population. Looking at that, you comfortably have the most sheep per head of population of any country. With Australia second.

the bloody chinese are beating us?
Mind you, a few years ago I remember our population being more like 160 million head...
You have to admit that monitary union and the free movement of labor would help out both economies. Besides, Australia has lots of hot blonds where as New Zealand seems to mostly have brunetts. It's a win for everyone.
There is already free movement of labor. New Zealanders and Australians are free to live and work in either country. It's just a bad idea. New Zealand would lose a lot of autonomy.

I think it would be good, but New Zealanders must have a mighty fierce inferiority complex, for they absolutely baulk at the idea.
Surely if we felt inferior we would want to merge with Australia. You're not making sense.
I want a united world with one international government ultimately. Small people with small dicks cling to patriotism because it's all they've got to feel proud about. Such losers in life depend upon sporting events to provide a vicarious sense of triumph their pathetic egos demand.
Some of us enjoy the company of our fellow countrymen, and a sense of community. There's nothing wrong with that. As for sport, as long as an atmosphere of sportsmanship prevails it's all good.

NZ could do with importing some cricket fans, though. I was watching Day 1 of NZ vs Sri Lanka last night, and there was a huge empty stadium.
When I was over there in March, I saw a number of TV ads during tests that urged people to go out to the grounds. It seems that people watch on TV, but don't bother to actually go in person.
Honestly, I can understand that. But then, I'm not a big Cricket fan. I am, however, a baseball fan and typically I prefer to watch on TV than to trek down to Yankee Stadium for a game. Once in a great while, sure, but for the most part, TV is soooo much more convenient.
Anyway, I was in NZ for three weeks and I know enough to know that the Kiwis would have zero interest in a union with Australia. The Aussies exist to lose to them in rugby.
All we have to do is get rid of those silly extra stars on the Australian flag, colour the remaining ones in red and rename Australia to 'West Island'.
Electorally NZ remains one vote per person while Australia moves over to the one vote per state system.
After this is done we just have to remove the words 'mate', 'fair dinkum' and a whole ton of others from their dictionary (not that an Australian ever uses a dictionary save for propping up the barbie or somesuch) and just make sure that there are never too many Australians allowed into NZ at any one time. I'm thinking 3 at once - 1 each on the Northern, Southern and Stewart Islands but am willing to be a little flexible.
The truth is, far more NZers move to Australia than the reverse. I've hardly ever met an Australian living in NZ.

I know of one, he loves to flyfish there, he says the rivers are better in NZ.
But you're right Cal, Aussies are rare in NZ, but a lot of kiwi's are in Aussie - then again, if you have travelled a lot like myself, you will find that kiwi's are EVERYWHERE. There's only 4 million of us, yet I bet if you were to travel to some forsaken place in Mongolia, you will find a kiwi doing something useful.
If you were to find an Australian in some other country, you will find him drunk.

I've done some travelling myself, and experienced the same thing.

Oh, that's a bit harsh. Australians are useful too.
