Actually we already have free movement/immigration between the two, fairly similar fiscal/legal policies and whatnot.
It's more a case of there not really being anything 'substantial' to gain from such a thing.

As I have lived in New Zealand for 5 months now... Not a way in hell that the kiwis will ever agree to join a union with the Aussies.

It's like asking Iceland to merge with Denmark, no way in hell.

Although their rugby team would be decent

I don't see the point really. Australia would dominate the relationship. It's not like there is anything really gained for New Zealand. They have no threats. Both governments work well. Are there any tarrifs that we should worry about?
