Zkrib, any idea what happens in the tropics if warm water stops moving elsewhere? Boiling oceans? Increased evaporation? Would this tend to help cool the Earth? Would Britney take it ALL off?

Not boiling, more warmer & with greater evaporation.
I'm trying to remember which way the winds go there. Since the Sahara is fairly dry, my best guess is that the extra evaporation will head for the Brazilian rain forest ... or maybe by that time, the rain plain.
