Why reference Senator Trent Lott and not Senator Byrd, Democrat leader in the Senate and Grand Marshall of the KKK.

If the problem is the skin color of the speaker, I suggest that there are many fine Republican blacks who could speak the truth to their brothers. The problem is they are not given the opportunity to speak at Black civil rights organizations because those organizations are dominated by Democrats who are more concerned about maintaining their power than about the advancement of their people.

Borat probably could not get away with making his film in Europe as he would have one of the following things ruin each skit.

A - The interviewed subject would not accept such unkoth behavior
B - They would realize he wasn't Kazakstani or even a journalist
C - He gets in legal trouble under various defimation and slander laws

No, the reason he can't get away with it in Europe is simply that people know him too well for him to pull off his whole act. He is a relative unknown in America, and thus it's far easier for him to pretend to be a character (e.g. Borat) and have everyone believe him.

I highly doubt yokels in Europe are any less "uncouth" or otherwise unperceptive than yokels in America. If Borat was as unknown there as he is here, the Borat routine would go just as far.

What Ned ignores is that the NAACP gave Byrd a 100% grade for civil rights this year and most years since the 1960's. It would be extremely hard to find someone of Byrd's generation (born: 1917 in rural West Virginia) who wasn't taught the racial views of those times. Yes, he was a member of the KKK for a year (1942-1943) but since taking public office in 1953 he's been one of the more progressive voices. That's why the NAACP gives him such high ranks.

As for the claim that Byrd was a "Grand Wizard" of the KKK... That's just the Nediverse speaking.

They're drunk. They'll laugh and sing along with anything that mocks something they're not.

Maybe "Throw the American down the well" had worked too.
