I dont assume patients are drug addicted, but I do assume they know better than you or me if they are in pain and if the medication you're allowing them to have is working. What happens when you've decided they dont need a painkiller when in fact they do need it? Do they get to sue you for malpractice? Can their loved ones hunt you down when they commit suicide because they dont want to live with the pain you want them to live with? You dont even see the arrogance of your position?

Well they are. There a lot of people addicted to drugs, and even more people would be addicted if we just let them have all the drugs they want.

Then you are assuming they aren't addicted, that there are no drug addicts.

I believe that not letting people have all the drugs they want is good for them. I don't care if you think that makes me arrogant. I don't want to be so humble that I do the wrong thing.

Eh, maybe when you guys get older you'll understand why so many old folks in this country are scared to death by people like you. Some are scared enough to commit suicide... They're learning they cant trust doctors to ease their pain because y'all and the DEA are putting the screws to doctors and pharmacists who prescribe narcotics too much.

Well I'm 38. I've not really heard too many stories about people who don't get the pain killers they want, unless those people are addicts. I know plenty of stories about people like that.

Well they are. There a lot of people addicted to drugs, and even more people would be addicted if we just let them have all the drugs they want.
And there are alot of people who aren't addicted and in need of the painkillers. So they will suffer because you want to reduce addiction. Fine, at least admit it. And now you can volunteer to be sued by every patient who is in pain because you've decided to practice medicine on them.

Then you are assuming they aren't addicted, that there are no drug addicts.
I'm not making assumptions, you are. You've already decided they cant have painkillers because they are or will be addicted.

I believe that not letting people have all the drugs they want is good for them. I don't care if you think that makes me arrogant. I don't want to be so humble that I do the wrong thing.
Letting people suffer because you dont think they need painkillers is arrogant, shall we ask them if I'm right?

Weird, do you wanna ban booze, Kid? I mean, I can have all the booze I want but if cancer is eating me alive then you jump in to make sure I dont get enough painkillers. What a putz!

Well, that doesn't really make sense kid. People in pain are in need of pain killers. And being in pain doesn't necessarly mean you're addicted.

What is you teared a ligament and just came out of the operation room? Trust me, you need painkillers to keep the fever and swelling down.

I could care less about your past, but I see plenty of painkillers in your future if you talk like that to people who can reach out and touch you. Stay safe, talk **** to people over the internet... So according to you, if cancer is eating someone alive, they're weak if they want painkillers and commit suicide when they cant get them.

Yeah, like you really try to stay informed about the people you're practicing medicine on. The "right to die" movement in this country is a result of doctors underprescribing patients. Thats why a few years ago Arizonans overwhelmingly voted to get the Feds out of the business of pain medication. Thats why Oregonians got assisted suicide, all these people dont want you deciding if they are in pain and what they can do about it.

They are in need if the painkillers you're letting them use dont do the job

No one I have ever known has ever had any trouble getting the pain killers they need. That's not to say there are a bunch of right wing nuts in Arizona.
