Second, that was the US's neocon governement's spin of the story. Every other person involved did not share that view. Otherwise they wouldn't have needed their coalition of the willing, no?
If you can find where Powell claims that it's a known fact and not that there are a high probability, I will be glad to know.

About the search, well, it's right that they found nothing, but that actually doesn't prove anything since the inspectors wasn't allowed to move freely. Saddam actually started the war by himself when he denied their free movement, and my humble guess is that he actually didn't want it exposed that he no longer had any WMD's.

About your second point - do you occationally wear a tinfoil hat ? "the coalition of the willing"

Obviously I was wrong, the Sunnites are no different in terms of terror in Iraq.
How on Earth could you miss that the Sunni were the ones planting most of the bombs in Iraq? It's been that way for three years. The rise of figures like Sadr were because they called for the creation of Shi'a militias to protect shi'a neighborhoods and mosques from attacks by Sunni militants. Since that happened things have continually moved towards civili war.

dannubis, you're wrong about humanitarian relief. Humanitarian relief has been one of the few bright spots as hunger and malnutrition are now at the lowest level since the start of the Iran-Iraq war in 1980.

But wait, Iraq has already cost more $ than vietnam. Go figure.

I would certainly hope so, given the 340% inflation of the dollar between 1973 and 2005. Judged by percentage of GDP, however, the Iraq war has been far less costly than Vietnam...

dannubis, you repeating over and over that wmd was the sole reason doesn't change history either.

Iraq broke a Cease Fire. They fired on jets patrolling the No Fly Zone, repeatedly.
            They continued to execute thousands.

You go ahead and ignore it all you want.

Um. How could Saddam have been in breach of the inspections if the so called WMDs never existed in the first place?
Because the responsibility for verifying this was Saddam's, not ours. The terms for the end of hostilities in 1991 included unfettered access ANYWHERE ANYTIME for UN weapons inspectors. This never occurred. For a decade. Saddam obviously thought that the possibility that he might use them against an invasion would keep him in power, hence his unwillingness to cooperate fully even if he didn't have any weapons any time during that period. A miscalculation on his part.
Just because you've taken a direct part in killing people doesn't give you any more weight in saying whether that killing was just or not.
It does however make his use of the term "chicken hawk" inaccurate. As well as laughable since he is himself one.

Otherwise, all murderers would be innocent.
Nor do I want to be innocent of all the good I and 99 percent of those involved in this have done.
