Slept on Sir Nevilles grave lately, or is is sufficient with the imprints of him on your sheets, MOBIUS ?

You are a nice guy in general, but on political and common sense questions, I would never take you seriously. Heck, even a kindergarden makes more sense than you do
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

        Comparing apples with oranges...

You are a nice guy in general
How can you countenance the first part of this sentence with the second!!?

Really? Well according to Mr BlackCat here, it was politically common sense to invade Iraq and reach the situation we have now...

Given your stance of supporting the ever unfolding catastrophe that is Iraq, I can well understand how kindergarten makes more sense to you than I do - because you obviously can't understand us adults!
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

No problem - there is a lot of hate in you

Well, my thoughts was more in the direction that your thoughts was prekindergarden - certainly not that there would be any glimse of adult thoughts in the opinions you express.

The real fun thing is that you clearly thinks that a "peaceful" revolution in iraq wouldn't have resulted in the same as we see today.

Mobius, follow this if you can.

You constantly, up to an including this thread, blast troops for being there.
            Then,
You follow up by constantly, up and including this thread, criticize if we were to leave.

Just like I said, you're nothing but an instigating whiner, with nothing to offer as alternatives on anything.

Actually, my alternative was "Don't invade in the first place!", but I guess you must have missed that one...

No, I let you slide by on that one, because you're wrong again.

Hussein broke a Cease Fire. We had all the reason needed.

IIRC this internecine phase of the "insurgency" began with attacks from Sunnis on Shiites in order to dissuade them from voting and to punish them for co-operating with the coalition when the new government was forming. Only then did the Shiite militias begin to attack Sunnis instead of coalition forces and the police. If coalition forces left then the argument that one side was collaborating with the enemy would be removed. I'm certaqin that the fighting would go on for awhile, but maybe then it would be possible to involve interested parties (Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Syria) in a process to put pressure to end the fighting.

The fact is that in 3 years we haven't made measurable progress in staunching the flow of blood, the flow is in fact increasing. What we're doing isn't working so maybe we should now consider that our presence in Iraq is making matters worse not better. Furthermore we're losing ground in Afghanistan, a place where our forces just might make a difference.

Doc, the Iraqi government doesn't want us to leave.
The troops say we shouldn't leave.
                      We're in a snake pit.

EDIT TO ADD: Personally, I'd pull them out. I'd set a time-frame, and stay on it. It wouldn't be long. "Here's your country. Good luck."

                          1) They're going to have to take the big plunge someday anyway. Is there really any reason to believe that their ability to stave off a calamity will be any better at some time in the future?

2)It's not up to the troops. The French Foreign Legion wanted to stay in Vietnam and Algeria, that didn't mean it was a good idea.

                          3) Jump!

Well, I for one am glad that US troops were diverted to Baghdad to keep things under control there.
