I rent 2 bays to run a business. One bay is public and no smoking is allowed. The other bay has seperate ventilation and I have allowed people to smoke where they please. All of them smoke.

Bylaws was recently by. Smoking must be eliminated. Everywhere. No matter if every single person who works there is a smoker.

As a smoker, and someone with property rights, I can't even have a private office where only I work where I can smoke.

Such ardent opposition to what I'd hope would be courtesy is zealotry over people not wanting to deal with it.
People who drive civic initiatives that go way beyond reason are, by and large, zealots.

      • The difference is that, hospitals and hairstylists have already decided, without government interference, to not allow smoking.
Fine you destroyed my analogy. Though I'd be interested in your opinion just to see how consistent you wish to remain.

But the question is, why is a bar and a club private property?

Bars and restaraunts should have that same right.

          ACK!
and i think that the public should have the right to determine that there is a base level of regulations that we allow businesses to operate in.

What does it matter if someone reports me?

            It violates the bylaw.

The bylaw is either absurd, or it is not.

              Way beyond reason??

              SMOKING is way beyond reason.
Subjecting people who CHOOSE NOT TO SMOKE to smoke in public places is way beyond reason.

Asking smokers to step outside to smoke instead of doing it inside public places? TOTALLY within reason.

Addicts, as you smokers are, cannot be possibly counted on making reasonable decisions when your addiction becomes just a little bit more inconvenient.

And it's not absurd. It's a sensible bylaw, which is why it's propagating rapidly across the world.

                Get over it.

Do you support regulated hours of work? Regulated minimum safety standards, quotas? tariffs? You know anything that restricts the market? How free do you want your market?

Why do we ban the sale of some drugs?

                      It's bull****.

I could form a club called "Smokers Only". I could arrange the club so it had no employees, only members.

Smoking would not be legal by the bylaws behind closed, and locked, doors.

I'm asking for the drug to be banned or get off the backs of addicts that are paying massive amounts of taxes to the state.

Unless they are a publicly traded company they are privately owned, therefore private property.

Since it's a health issue, tough ****. The people have spoken, your stupid habit needs to be taken outside. It's not THAT big a deal for you, just walk a few steps to smoke.

and should you be able to discriminate against me because of choices i made?
