Well, Tennessee falls to a tough SEC opponent, proving, of course, that the SEC is the toughest conference in the land! =)

Why does it prove that? My god, only in the SEC can fans spin a loss at home to a lower-ranked opponent as proof that their conference is the toughest in the land, rather than merely proof that the home team was not as good as advertised...

Clemson lost. I can't believe that. The ACC blows. It's not even close.

Clemson lost at home to a team with two losses, just like Tennessee did. Why exactly is Tennessee's loss proof that the SEC is "the toughest conference in the land" while Clemson's loss is proof that the ACC "blows"? Do you even think about the idiocy of the conventional wisdom before you regurgitate it?

The UNC offense looked the best it has all year, though.

Offenses have a tendency to do that against Notre Dame this year...

I like how "living on the edge too much eventually gets you burned" is finally starting to ring the true way it should have all this time. Last week was USC, this week it's Tennessee's turn to have its recent history of close calls catch up with them. (The difference is USC still has a chance to play its way back into a BCS bowl - Tennessee does not.) It's not starting to add up for Michigan just yet, but it's starting to get there. Both top two teams get a mulligan this week.

      1. Ohio State
      2. Michigan
      3. Louisville (+1)
      4. Notre Dame (+1)
      5. Texas (+1)
      6. Auburn (+1)
      7. California (+2)
      8. West Virginia (-5)
      9. Florida (+1)
      10. Arkansas (+1)
      11. Southern Cal (+1)
      12. Boise State (+1)
      13. Rutgers (+1)
      14. Louisiana State (+1)
      15. Tennessee (-7)
      16. Wisconsin **

      Dropped: Oklahoma

Not impressed by the Sooners at all tonight. I probably should have had the Badgers on here last week as well.

Not only that, but the UCLA team they has such problems with at home (and who should have beaten them) got rocked by 2 TDs by Cal today.

0/10 - funny the first time, but you can come back to reality now.

BTW WPS, 26-6 and then Houston Nutt flips the switch back to his conservative strategizing, just hold on and win. Works for me. Arkansas is one win closer to a BCS bowl. I'm wanting to play West Virginia, Boise St, Louisville, or one of these other overranked noname conference schools, just to prove how they'll fare in REAL competition.

You better hope the SEC champ fares better against an "overranked noname conference school" than they did last year...

Honestly, I didn't start the Irish out much higher than what they were ranked after the Michigan blowout (they were #11, I think I started them at #9). I don't believe in dropping a team for a win unless the team was overrated to begin with (*cough* USC *cough* *cough*), and the upsets ahead of them have piled up. Plus, I think they're going to go into Memorial Coliseum and not only beat USC, but do it handily.

Call me crazy if you like... but that's why they're called opinion polls.

Bad week for the SEC this week as Alabama loses to Miss State (of all teams) and Georgia loses to Kentucky! It seems like the SEC has 5 really good teams (Florida, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee) and the rest are crap.

Not when we started rankings, they weren't. Michigan took care of that. USC, on the other hand...

Yeah, but they don't blow out anyone. Whether it's Vandy or Tennessee or whoever. They are kind of like 2002 Ohio State that way (though not as talented).

I don't see how teams with bad offenses (Florida, Auburn) can be considered "really good".
