Like I said, when Rutgers loses to WVU, the Big East becomes like a mini version of the 2006 SEC, where all the good teams beat up on each other. I admit, when you have disappearing defenses (Louisville - WVU) and disappearing offenses (Louisville today), the games become more fun to watch, but the SEC would flatten the Big East in a conference shootout. OSU and Mich are clearly the #1 and #2 teams in the NCAA, no matter who wins when they play each other.
Here, during the season, if the #1 team looses, they drop to #4 or 5. In the BCS title game, the team that looses is #2 no matter what (even if that team was #2 going in). Why the difference?

Here are the one loss teams that are bunched together in the BCS. Any of them has a shot, if they win out.
Florida .8017
Texas .7998
Auburn .7814
USC .7449
California .7330
Notre Dame .7316
There's a large drop off to WVU and Arkansas. I guess Arkansas could get in too, but I doubt WVU would get enough love in the computer rankings if it won out.
