  • Huh... I guess that must be the edge of the RPG genre. I always considered it an action game with some RPG elements.

      @Elok also:

Yes, MS has courted a bunch of Japanese developers for Xbox 360 RPG games.

Blue Dragon was from the original FF creator and was a huge buoy for 360 sales in Japan. It's out in Japan right now and will be out in North America & Europe sometime soon.

Enchanted Arms is another Xbox 360 JRPG that's supposedly good as far as JRPGs go.

Ford established its franchise over 100 years, during which it produced lots of good cars. Its also apparently produced some decent pick ups, and other things lately, but not enough demand for those categories to overcome built in cost problems.

Sonys game franchise is what, a decade old? and they have no such built in cost problems.

The point was crappy products can sell lots of units if the buyers have poor taste.

It was then admitted by nostromo that the strat and adven selections sucked, and that Japanese RPG selections sucked, but that Xbox was pretty good on western RPGs, citing as an example a bunch of games that were quickly ported to PC. To which someone replied that they liked playing them before they came out on PC.

Great. Hardly a ringing endorsement of the Xbox library.

Yeah, see the massive sales of console games versus sales for PC TBS and Paradox games.

Cmon, its one thing to compare titles within a genre. If theres a particular genre you dont like, thats truely subjective. Its like saying AMC/Jeep made the best cars in the world, and most of what Honda and Toyota make is crap, cause you only like 4WD off road vehicles, or something. Or like saying that some record label is crap, cause it mainly sells rap music.

                    That's specific to the RPGs.

You're not in the target market, so it makes sense that the games don't appeal to you.

Those TBS games are like watching paint dry, that's why their sales suck.

Err. Give me a Toyota 4WD over a Jeep any day...

Yes. Death Row Records, for instance, is crap.

Err.. nostromo didn't make the original statement that the RPG selections suck on the XBox. Furthermore, what in the world does it matter that they come out on the PC later?! The selection is still on the XBox, regardless, and you can get those games when they are completed by the developer instead of waiting months or years to play it on the PC.

                        • Jeez, you guys get all bent over a little bit of trolling. Personally, liking any of the consoles is cool unless it's just used to supplement your nerd penis.

The bit about Xbox RPGs coming out on the PC was for real though, because it saved me money to not have to buy an Xbox. Yay for good games.

                            1. I didnt say Nostromo made the original statement. He however was the one who made the Japanese vs Western RPG distinction, at the same time admitting Jaakos statement wrt to strat and adventure.

                            2. What does it matter? Well, I guess, for folks who also have a PC, one might want a console that has a library of games you cant get on the PC, right?

                            3. When completed by developer. Er, werent we talking about the library? IE what already sitting out there, to be played. Threeof the "great Xbox games" mentioned were Oblivion and the two Kotors. Im pretty sure both of the Kotors run on the wimpy budget PC Ive got, and I think Oblivion runs on the PCs most folks here have. So how would their existence be an argument for buying an Xbox 360 NOW, instead of a PS3? (leaving aside that I dont like to buy games immediately, since by waiting I get a much better idea of what the best games are)

When the newest graphic cards + CPU upgrades may cost you similar to a console (and you may not be able to hook up your computer to your HDTV), you may simply go for console instead .

You think your 'wimpy' budget PC can play Oblivion? Hell, Oblivion runs fairly poorly on most PCs which don't have great graphics cards and RAM. I imagine the same for a game like Bioshock, which will come out for both X360 and PC. And KOTOR came out a few years back for the original X360. I remember getting it for the PC. I had an average gaming PC, but it ran poorly on it. It was later found out that there is a horrid memory bug to the PC version. The console version didn't suffer from such bug. I think you'll find that the console version of a game suffers from far less bugs and heartache than a PC version of a game (ie, Oblivion is another good example, especially wrt ATI cards). That'd be another reason why an overlap doesn't particular matter in terms of game library.

And a lot of people do like to get a hyped game when it comes out.

Also some people like to play different games in different settings. Maybe they like sitting up close to a smaller screen in a desk chair for strategy games, but like to lean back on the couch in front of their HDTV for other types of games.

Watching ESPN2 ... the current show was brought to us by the Playstation 2. Not 3 ... 2.

                                I guess they're a bit worried already
