Violent criminals should be shot when they are causing mass havok. Those which aren't shot can be given nice trials after things have calmed down and then spend decades in prison.

What violent approach will do though.. at the end, the thugs that weren't so tough after all might go down quietly. The overall number of riots and criminal acts down. Maybe.

But it will undoubtely bring about radicalization for some small proportion of this youth. They would be if they already aren't the prime candidates for new jihadists inside EU. I'm saying, that some of those boys might be recruitable soon. If we turn the heat in too much, violently, some of them WILL turn for sure, and then we're at a whole new ball game.

So my solution is to watch as they just destroy some neighbourhoods, get tired, throw some of them in jail? I don't know, I don't know what the solution is, I think there is no solution.

I know one thing though, we can never have a society where there is no crime, no thugs etc. The only thing we can do is to try to give everyone an equal opportunity, to me this means through education. If the real opportunity is there, then I don't give a rats ass for people who turn that down and start doing stupid stuff instead. They deserve what's coming for them anyway.

I note that during the Rodney King riots in LA back in the early 1990's the police couldn't get a handle on the situation until the governor called in the National Guard and ordered them to shoot looters on sight. A few looters got put into body bags and everyone else ran home.

yeah of course you can take the situation like that and everyone will go home (except the ones who want to die), but .. I don't know if that really helps in the situation France is in.

Both are somewhat analogous in that there are disaffected disenfranchised yutes involved. I think the rift is far deeper though in France's case than in the 80's King riots.

Frances has deep cultural issues in that they need a more systemic and complete approach to immigration and cultural assimilation.

Right, I mean in LA, even though the ghetto situation and all that is more severe and all that stuff, it's still different of its nature. In France, these guys don't really feel French at all. I don't know what they feel. I guess they have no identity.

This is no excuse though and I'm a hardliner on these kinds of issues, you start a mess like that and continue to show attitude later on too, well if someone gets stomped, that's the way it goes.

But how to make this situation better, to that I don't think there's anything particular one could do. Except offer some opportunities more, if they are now lacking. For those who want it, for thsoe who are not interested, forget about them.

Thats all well and good save France is relatively starved for opportunities as they routinely have high levels of unemployment.

Guys, there's no chance of the army being called in the manner Oerdin is calling for. The French even surrender to themselves. Ask Spiff how the 4th republic fell also read up on what happened in May 1968 when force was used against protesters along these lines.

The only way to offer more economic opportunities would be to do a thatcher style deregulation, decrease in taxation. and cuts in social spending. I doubt the French have the guts for that.

I note that during the 2005 riots in France, the governmùent eventually got a handle of the situation without using any excessive force, and without calling the army.
