  • Next governor of Ohio is 25%+ behind in polls

It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.
    - Stalin

Despite being 25-28% behind in the polls, Ken Blackwell will become Ohio's next governor. Just as he stole Ohio's electors for Bush in 2004, He purged 1.2 million voters rom the rolls this year. Ohio's Republican scandals have become so great, that the current governor once had an approval rate of 6.5%

Ohio pretty much sucks, now doesn't it?

The Republicans need to steal Ohio and Florida to maintain control of the House and the electoral college in 2008. They have 18 congresspeople, and 20 electors.

They should have the same number of electors as congress members plus senators. Is that what you meant?

Yes, in 2000 I was watching the international news strories on the "election", and the commentators spent lots of time explaining the electoral college. I said that to claify it to non-Americans. Also: The House has 435 Congresspeople, The Electoral College, that picks the President (in 2008) has 538 electors, The total in the House, Senate and 3 for Washington DC, which doesnt have anyone in congress.

Well, interestingly, there is a dispute between the two homes of the Democratic candidate in Ohio, as to which is his legal residence. If it cannot be determined, he can't vote. If he can't vote, he can't run for governor. Guess who gets to decide if he can legally run?

The Republicans do have a policy of attempting to repress the vote in Democratic aeas by doin the following:

                    1) purge voter rolls to eliminate likely democratic voters; no evidence is shown that someone is an illegal alien or a convict.

                    2) They send out fliers, like the ones sent out in Orange County last week and in Florida & Ohio in 2004 & 2000, attempting to deceive Democratic voters. They'll say things like remember to vote on (insert date which is after the election) or they'll send out Spanish language fliers to heavily hispanic areas (which are something like 80%-90% likely Democrats) claiming the INS will be at the polling station to arrest all hispanics (citizen or not) until they can prove their citizenship.

                    3) Republicans routinely attempt to cut the number of polling stations in Demoratic areas and increase the number of polling station in Republican areas. The result is HUGE lines in Democratic leaning areas and empty polling stations with no lines in Republican areas. The goal is simply to make it very hard to vote in Democratic areas and super easy to vote in Republican areas.

These are not isolated cases. This is a varified pattern of abuse which has spread over the last 2-3 election and across the country.

I love this. Can't get enough people to vote for you? Just claim the opposition stole the election in absence of any evidence! You people are annoying with your impotent whining.

No one's claiming that. The election hasn't happened.

If he does win though, don't you think that a claim of theft might, in this case, be justified?

I'm glad someone has faith in democracy, you're on, if we can agree on terms. I don't suppose you'd consider certification by the Ohio Secretary of State as the final determinant of who wins the bet?
