#2 and 3 seem to be the culprits. I don't know how you switch off your brain -- my wife's an insomniac, and has the same trouble with worrying thought -- but it's the thoughts, not the sleep, that's the problem

As for #3, it's best to do something very low-key and passive in the hour or so before sleep. Reading in bed works well.

I sleep like a log...I wish I didn't enjoy sleep quite as much as I do...try getting me out of bed on a weekend - it won't happen...

Sleeping is one of the best things in life. Nobel-prize winner Halldor Kiljan Laxness wrote in his novel Independant people that people seldom get as disappointed as when they wake up. I heartily agree.

yep, I have trouble falling asleep if I think about my women problems, or if I think about work.

fantasizing about sex helps me fall asleep rapidly. . It's true though. Anything to take my mind off the real world.

although I had a nightmare last night. I rarely have these. And it really wasn't that scary, but I think I yelled a little as my dog heard it I think.

It was a dream about black death. But not black death in the historical sense, but in a fantasy/horror setting.

I woke up, but I fell back to sleep in a minute. .

But then I had dreams of hiking out in the wilderness naked. Not sure what that was all about. I was hiking with a group of people, but I was the only one naked.

I once dated a girl who would react violently to any attempt to wake her in the morning before she was done sleeping.. Otherwise she was very sweet.. Needless to say an early morning **** was out of the question.. I was intercepted many times by a flailing elbow before the flesh torpedo could find its target.. She actually relented for a while, but when the relationship began to sour the bellwether of its demise was the return of the elbow.

I had to google that to find out what it was.. Interesting how you are so familiar with such a topic as to know its precise method for implementation ..

that'd do it. In the navy I had this Nietzsche book. From this guy's bio, he's the last guy who should be doing philosophy. but his writings put me to sleep everytime.
