Then general said his quotes were taken out of context, but then added, but we really should get out soon.

Yeah, why do most Americans hate America so much?

Well they were... he meant for a phased withdrawl in the next couple years, not pull everyone out next week... but it's still getting out soon and he is right that it isn't helping things.

Rather meaningless 3.5 years away from the next General Election don't you think.

Plenty of time for the all PR no substance Tory bandwagon to break down.

Not sure how it is relevant either since 'Call me Dave' Cameron supports the troops being in Iraq.

The day a Tory administration pulls British forces out of a theatre the US has requested we commit to with them we really will know that Hell has finally frozen over

Blair apparently 'agrees' with the general.

Maybe Iraq was never meant to be. The Sunnis of the Baghdad area have been dominating the Shia majority for nearly 400 years. They were brought into the area by the Ottomans ( or locals were converted under pressure from the Ottomans ) so maybe even though there is a chance that the Shia may adopt a government we won't like they should be allowed to free themselves from the Sunnis. Avoiding slaughter in the border zones will be difficult. There probably will be a slaughter.

And now we are hearing that apparantly Gordon Brown never wanted to invade in the first place. Nice of him to say so at the time - that was a brave and principled stand he took there.

Of course, David Cameron voted in favour of the declaration of war on Iraq too.
