To my knowledge the only one whose spoken out about this is James Carville who has ALWAYS had a personal fight with Dean. Those two just don't like each other and that's why Carville goes after Dean.

You are right that voters largely voted against Bush, the war, and Republican corruption but Dean was the guy with the 50 state plan which meant that as races opened up there was money on hand to push those races over the top. Plus Dean was the guy who really revved up the Democrats' fundraising efforts with his netroots network idea. Based upon those new revenues the Dems were able to borrow $10 million in the final week or two of the campaign and that extra money really did win some races.

Omaha is the home of the US Strategic Command and a transportation/communications hub. It's a hell of a lot more vital to national security than San Diego...
Omaha has in no way been threatened by a terrorist attack. NYC and Washington have suffered terrorist attacks (NYC twice) while LA has been targeted twice in the past.

The money should go to likely targets and not just to some pork barrel projects for the Congressmen who sit on key committees. The Democrats have said they'll do that; the Republicans actively fought that to keep the pork flowing.

Lastly, you are as usual completely uneducated. San Diego is the headquarters of the US Pacific Fleet Command which makes up the majority of the US fleet. It is the world's busiest (not just the country's busiest) border crossing. It is the fourth largest port on the west coast and it has one of the largest concentrations of military bases in the US. Omaha... economically, population wise, politically, and socially is barely a pimple on our ass.

        • It's not just Carville. He's the one speaking out attacking Dean, but the others are trying to kill him by ignoring him. The MSM has written barely anything on him. Really the only two "MSM" outlets that have credited him at all are Salon and The Daily Show. It's all Emmanuel and Schumer, no Dean.

Also, many in the party bureaucracy are unhappy with Dean because he was stingy with the money the DNC has collected. He has valid reasons, but in some very close races where he could have contributed, he's being cast as part of the reason for failure.

            How do you know?

San Diego is the headquarters of the US Pacific Fleet Command which makes up the majority of the US fleet.

Wow, one fleet from one branch of the military. That's certainly more important than the Strategic Command for the entire US military...

It is the world's busiest (not just the country's busiest) border crossing.

Wow. I'm sure if Al-Qaeda ever decides they want to blow up some Mexicans, you'll be high on the list...

It is the fourth largest port on the west coast

            Wow, fourth-largest. On one coast.

Omaha... economically, population wise, politically, and socially is barely a pimple on our ass.

Still, we all know where the President flew to after 9/11. Seems there's no place like Nebraska for running the country during a time of crisis.

            • I would love to compare the "transportation hub" which is Omaha to San Diego. I'd bet that the world's largest border crossing & 4th largest port on the west coast produces WAAAAAYYYYYYYY more commerce and trade. Sure, there are important railway lines going through Omaha but at the end of the day... that's not a likely terrorist target. They like symbolic targets like the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, LAX, or the Golden Gate Bridge.

Not a railroad junction in Omaha. The money should be prioritized according to which cities are the most likely targets.

              • BTW it's not just people crossing that border. There is a huge flow of goods and supplies.

                • The Strategic Command for the US Military isn't a likely target? How do you arrive at that conclusion?

                    • Population for Omaha metro area: 404,267 (2003 estimate)
Population for San Diego metro area: 2,813,833 (2000 census) [City estimate for 2003: 1,266,753]

Per Capita Income for Omaha: $21,756 (2000)
Per Capital Income for San Diego: $45,733 (2000)

What's more San Diego has been one of the fast growing regions in the country so its economic lead has gotten greater if anything.

                            • In a not so surprising "surprise move" Lieberman is now saying he will caucus with the Democrats at the start of the 110th Congress but deliberately said the door is not shut when asked if he would switch parties.

This looks like a power play by Lieberman basically he gets to now demand whatever chairmanship he wants or he threatens to switch sides and end Democratic control of the Senate.
