I wonder: Every time in any scifi film or show I have ever seen (as best as I can recall) that zooms in on or out from Earth, it always ALWAYS shows North America or we're shown the ubiquitous African continent shot taken during one of the Apollo missions I think.

Did you Brits get to see Europe in that scene tonight in your version of the show across the pond or did you get to see the land of the Yanks too?

The fourth of the Final Five is Tyrol and I can't really take for the other three credit because Sprayber floated the idea first.

Of course, that still leaves the last Cylon model for 2008. I'll go on record and say I DO NOT think Starbuck is a Cylon, but I almost think the Cylons that are there next to the nebula with the fleet actually rescued her from the gas giant (somehow after her trip to Earth and back ... we'll get an episode or two out of that storyline) and brought her to the nebula with them. I think Roslin's out too because a Cylon would be immune to cancer. The baby helped treat her, but not cure her, and Athena got baked pretty good in that radioactive nebula last season I think and managed not to die of radiation poisoning ... same with the other Sharon from nuke-to-Hell Caprica, er unless they're the same one either way she/they hadn't developed cancer from all that radiation exposure. I still maintain that Roslin will die before the fleet reaches Earth.

The bogie spooked him again (twice more, I don't recall) then suddenly pulled up alongside him ... it was Starbuck in a Viper, presumably the one she was supposed to have been blown up in. She's smiling, calm, and says everything will be ok. She's been to Earth, knows where it is, and is going to show them the way. Then we get a little CGI of our POV zooming away from Lee and Kara and the fleet, past the Cylons, past a planet, out of the galaxy and then back in, past a different planet and come to rest somewhere above North America. The end ... until 2008.

My vision may be off here, but it seemed as if there were lights on the planet Earth that they showed - indicating a civilisation like ours. Am I right, and would this be intentional?

You know, they flashed it so fast I'm not sure if I saw it either. I'll try to watch Tuesday's re-airing at the end; I didn't record tonight.

The Earth they showed look perfectly fine and there were lights where inhabitation is, especially the West Coast was littered with lights. EDIT: Actually, no. I just watched it for the 12th time and I actually paid attention and the whole continent is basking in light and all the bright white spots are clouds or ice or waves or something.

I think Farscape is the only show so far that has shown Earth upside down, and even then they showed North America when they did it. It was kind of disappointing to see them use the cliché, but when you consider that a) the main viewership is North American and b) they only show it for a few seconds so it's imperative that the viewer realize that it is definitely THIS Earth and that Starbuck is not lying, and the best way to do it is to show something that's familiar to everyone; North America with the north up. It won't work if you have to squint your eyes and realize "ooh, right, that's Africa there but upside down".

Who cares, it was a HUGE shocker and it worked.

dying/not dying from radiation, the radiation in Anchorhead, or what it was, I think that was different from the one in that nebula near the algae-planet.

I wonder where Thrace got that Viper... I bet the other Cylon fleet (there were two, it seemed) is old-style, oBSG type.

And Tighs reaction was... Very good.
