Most paprika is weak and tasteless. You want the good stuff and it should be fresh or atleast not be years old. Good paprika has a different spice then chili but it still has some serious kick.

What Oerdin said. Quality paprika is fearsome stuff.Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

I have some amish style egg noodles (thin compare to thick) to serve with the goulash.. should I just make the spatzel?CSPA

I made it, and it was good. Stew Beef, peas, carrots, onion over them noodles. It was really good. I can't make it spicy or wife get acid reflux. I had some Hungarian paprika my aunt sent me from a vacation over there a few months ago. I used the mild and it was great. Really rather easy, just needs time to simmer.

There are two types of Paprika, sweet and hot. 'Normal' stuff you get ground up is sweet.
I have a string of hot paprikas at home if you want some Japher? You'll have to grind them yourself. I brought them back from budapest with me.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth

That recipe looks nice and easy. I'd stick dumplings in it or have it with potatoes rather than have noodles though. Never had goulash with noodles or even heard of that before this thread.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth

In Hungary they mostly use Goulash to refer to the soup version (unless it's quite a touristy place), the stew version is normally called something like beef stew (but in Hungarian).
But I ate a hell of a lot of both versions, and they were all very good.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth
