Most paprika is weak and tasteless. You want the good stuff and it should be fresh or atleast not be years old. Good paprika has a different spice then chili but it still has some serious kick.

Actually paprika is just another dried and ground chili. All chilis whether they now come from India, Hungary or Thailand originated in Central America.

The one that says Pride of Szeged is from Hungary and you can find it in lots of American grocery stores. It is the kind my mom always used. You can see it in some of the pics.

And Sikander, the wikipedia article says paprika is made from bell peppers.

Maybe she doesn't like it because she doesn't like it. I get people telling me "You'll LOVE this" for no other reason than they like it, and they can't understand how anyone could have different taste to themselves.
