Foley engaged in predatory behavior that probably shouldn't be illegal (though quite possibly is illegal thanks to legislation Foley co-sponsored), but clearly stepped over the line. The House leadership ignored this, possibly because they didn't want to risk losing a safe seat. That's definitely irresponsible management of the body.
But it is true that the scandal's totally overblown. It wouldn't change my vote if the shoe were on the other foot, since this isn't even the worst thing that House leadership has done in the past week. Far from it, in fact. But the reason why it's overblown isn't because of an evil witch hunt of Republicans, but because the media can't resist sex scandals. It's not fair or conducive to enlightened debate on the direction of this country, but them's the rules.

OK, for che, if it happened to a commie (of his flavor) then Che would cry witch hunt.
And GePap has never slammed a Dem either? I seem to recall no love for the Louisiana Congressman who was in trouble earlier this year.
You know that is kind of why the Dems have problems because their supporters haven't sold their souls to the party, in unthinking following, like Republican supporters have (the infamous 'unity' of the Republicans compared to the 'disunity' of the Democrats).

And the other reason is that most people get really freaked out thinking if their 16 year old was approached like this... much more than thinking what if their 16 year old goes to war in two years. Perhaps that is part of the media scandel machine as well... but it gets ratings, and that's because people are very interested in this crap.

90% of the time GePap criticizes a Dem it's for being too far to the right. With che, that figure is 100%.
Hooray for BAMs .

Originally posted by GePap Foley probably did not commit any crimes. And that is immaterial. Scandals have everything to do with appearence. As for bringing up Clinton, funy, but in the end, Clinton remained at 60% approval in the polls. Why should he have quit? The man would have easily been re-elected if he could have run in 2000.
On the other hand, given who backs the republicans, this issue with Foley is terrible news, since it involves that terrible sin, homosexuality.
PWNED.

On the "letter of the law", that is true only if the law that applies is that of DC, and not other localities. As for "the spirit", this is one of those laws that is rather simple, where the "spirit" matches the wording. The spirit being, not letting adults have sex with people considered underage.
