Why don't we just gather up the English speaking countries: UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland and vote on which version is to be the accepted standard of the lanuage? In the interest of democracy we will insist upon the one man one vote principle of course. Let's see, how does that add up?

Is English the official language of India? I guess it might be ONE of the official languages... hmm, crap. Hindi, Urdu, English and probably at least 3 more more minor ones i bet... Damn, I was going to discount their vote on it not being THE official language.. kind of hard when it's probably one of their more universal languages.

EDIT: just checked the above wiki, and it seems it's the "co-official" language of india. I liked this extract though "Indian spellings typically follow British conventions, with American English variations considered less desirable." So that's England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, India, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and a few other smaller territories that prefer "English (United Kingdom)" spelling, looks like "English (United States)" is in a rather pronounced minority! I'd really rather it was just called "English" though, no need for the territory name, let other territories clarify if they need to.

Actually, India has 23 offical languages. However, the government uses Hindi and English for offical purposes, although Hindi has a de jure priority.

The federal government conducts business in Hindi and English (but you can technically request documents in any of the other languages), while the states set their own official languages.

I really hope you aren't being serious drake. That kind of attitude will have got you what you wanted pre 1970's with most of the non euro world, but it won't get anywhere apart from the third world nowadays, put up or shut up. That's precisely the most annoying thing I find about certain americans nowadays, the attitude that they can just destroy people who don't show the proper amount of respect. I laugh in your general direction, and sneeze bogies on your sister.
