Ignoring the context here, how is showing children porn wrong? I guess I could partially understand the case that it would be forced on them, and not their choice, but porn isn't harmful.

Depends on what you're defining as porn.

Showing hardcore acts could be harmful to an impressionable young mind but I doubt there'd be any harm associated with showing a picture of a naked woman (or man) posing.

Look, I am going to say this. You and DinoDoc have convinced me that the force used to detain this pervert was reasonable. That was my only point in saying that vigilante justice cannot be allowed. Creeps like this need to be taken off the street and when citizens can help, so much the better.

My initial reaction to the story was based on what I would feel like doing if it was my kid. I would want to beat him to a pulp. The right thing to do is to use whatever force is necessary to detain him until the authorities arrive. Burke's words about being repeatedly struck in the face by 15 men is probably what got me going...until you pointed out that they were Burke's words.

All in all, it looks like reasonable force was used to detain a dangerous and sick person from remaining in a position where he could prey on our children. I applaude the citizens for both their action and their restraint. Is their anybody who truly disagrees with that last sentence?

Looking at the picture, the fact that no immediate charges were filed against the citizens, and the fact that the only accusations of excessive force we have are from the pervert himself, I would have to say that my position looks reasonable.

He looks severely beat up to me, and either way, 15 people turning violent wasn't merited by the offense he had committed. Those people were clearly acting out of hysteria, something you also seem to have missed.
