I prefer to mock their shared heritage without discriminating between them, myself. It's not like they can complain that I'm spamming any real worthwhile discussion, after all.

Good game in Calgary tonight, eh Asher? Perhaps the fans are murderous 'cause the team is killer!

For the rest of you, the Oilers triumphed over the Flames 4-3, with a short-handed goal in overtime. Oil is 4-0 in the pre-season, Flames are now 2-1 and already making golf reservations for spring!

Hey I work for an oil company. "Spawn of satan" may be applicable or any one of a thousand generic lawyer insults but "ambulance chaser" is just far too lame

Actually it was a pretty good game-- I attended it and yes the Edmonton "C" team did beat the Calgary "B" team. I say that since Calgary dressed two of its regular defencemen and about half their regular forwards with goaltending split between Kipper and a rookie . Edmonton player even fewer of its regular forwards and a similar number of regular defence There were several occasions when every player on the ice were people that will be in the AHL in 10days.

All that said, there was some good pace and it was exciting as all those inexperienced dmen on both sides made some giveaways.

But I don't read anything into pre-season games at the best of times but when its not even close to the regular squads??

Oh and Kipper was awful. . .. did not look sharp at all. Markenen let in a couple of not great goals in the first but then settles down and played a very nice game

Was hoping to read Andy Grabia's reply on the Battle of Alberta blog this morning, but it turned out Edmonton is also full of thieves!

I'll beg a little forgiveness. I always get the name confused for some reason. Plus, my house was broken into today, while I was sleeping, and my wallet, phone, laptop and car were stolen. Needless to say, I could give a **** about Gilbert's name or Thoreson's position right now.
I'm a little more worried about my car, all my work and writing on my computer, and the fact that some ****heads could have killed me in my sleep.

Oh, and I'm ecstatic about the fact that I called the police four and a half hours ago, and they have yet to arrive at my place. Just ecstatic. All this time I could have been gathering up the broken pieces of my life, and Edmonton's finest have decided that they'd rather just make me wait for them all evening.

Oh, and I'm also ecstatic that there have been five break-ins in my building in a week, and neither the condo board or the property manager thought a) they should send a letter around to let us know, or b) that they should actually secure the building.

Wow, Asher found a blog where someone was broken into in Edmonton. I'm sure that never happens in the City of Cows!

Anyway, I notice you didn't comment on last night's game, despite my encouragement. Are you looking forward to running into your favorite Flames on the golf course this spring?

I don't see what needs to be commented on. If you listened to the game/watched it, you'd see that in the 2nd and 3rd period Iggy and Tanguay were more interested in getting Lombo his hattrick than putting pucks in the net.

I will comment on how pathetic it was for a guy who scored all of 6 goals last year to score on you guys, while we were killing a 5-3. That was classic Oiler defensive brilliance.

And I didn't "find the blog", I've followed it for over a year.

And I think it's more telling that both guys from Edmonton on here seem to completely miss the point of this thread, ironically making it less comical and more enlightening as to the collective intelligence of our dear friends in the frozen northern tundra.

I'm curious to see if you're still planning the parade after tonight's game.

So what was your favourite part of the game?

Was it the first period, where Calgary spent a full half of the period on the penalty kill and you couldn't score, let alone register more than 8 shots on goal against an old, career backup goaltender?
