SA won't let me link to their excellent photoshopped image, but they pretty much hit it on the head: IT'S THE SAME DAMNED GAME OVER AND OVER AGAIN, JUST WITH ROSTER UPDATES!

no kidding??? my point was that fundamentally nothing has changed since the ps1/n64 move to "3d". everything since then has just been enhanced graphics and more eyecandy. I've played iterations of virtually the games in the console genres for years and want something different.

Xbox360 games are just boring rehashed garbage with shinier graphics. Nintendo, at the very least, attempts to change how games are played. Can you say the same for the other systems?

          250 $/€/£ too much!?

Now come on people how cheap are you? It's not even the price of a decent bottle of Cognac. To put it in perspective...it costs less than two nights out.

I paid more for my 256 mB SD card back in 2002...

Yeah, the Cognac Drinker is a crucial demographic Nintendo is trying to win over. It stands to reason that people who get soused on expensive booze will buy the cheapest video game system available in every generation.

              Absolutely!

              Xbox Live revolutionized online gaming.

Xbox Live Arcade is revolutionizing the production of gaming and distribution of games, opening it up to everyone.

What did Nintendo do recently? They gave Mario a water pack. They removed lots of buttons on the controller frustrating lots of gamers. They intentionally crippled storage capacity to prevent piracy.

So they introduce a gimmicky controller not meant for most games, make it the standard controller, castrate the specs of the console and price it higher than the Gamecube launched and call it innovation.

The Wiimote is somewhat unique, but in the end it's just a method of control. An interface to the game, not the game itself. I'm getting pretty sick of hearing how Nintendo is championing innovation, when they're not. They're the people who keep rehashing THEIR own games for decades on end.

Here's a newsflash -- their latest games sucked. Metroid Prime was heavy on the backtracking with lame, no-skill controlled. It's essentially a crippled RPG-FPS marketed as an adventure game to make up for the shortcomings of the Gamecube controller. Mario Sunshine sucked ass. Its "innovative" gameplay was just as stale as the graphics and level design were. Zelda: Wind Waker was simply dreadfully boring with lame "innovative" graphics.

There's a huge reason they're losing marketshare, but their hardcore anything-Nintendo-****s-is-gold niche market don't seem to care.

So you dont think its the parents who buy the console but the kids?

Well, whatever you say marketing genious...

rolfmao. That's not innovation, that's taking a decade + old aspect of pc gaming and porting it to a console.

Sure its a method of control. If the games end up sucking, then whatever the controller adds will be pointless and the console will flop. If the games are enjoyable and the controller functions as advertised, then maybe it won't. The wii controller wouldn't have made sunshine more enjoyable to me, I thought it was godawful.

Personally, I'm bored with regular controller operated games and want something new to play around with. I'd rather games move towards being more interactive than better graphics.

Cognac? Who drinks that these days, anyway? Besides rappers, I mean.

Nintendo had a larger price advantage last time and it earned them third place. Now their console will look even more outdated than their competitors, and at a higher price...

No, that's what the PS2 Online Network is.

XBL is quite different. You've obviously not played much or utilized it properly...

Stll I believe that they have succesfully refined their statregy of gamepley first, eye candy later.

I mean whoever has the newest dynamic shadows and HDR blah blah is very very much besides the point which is to have cool, entertaining and fresh games.

This is what Nintendo seems to be pursuing off instead of the gameplay wisely cheap additional chrome and glitter thats obviously priority in X0 and PS3.

To me X0 is more "outdated" than GC when it comes to really entertaining and innovative games.

Halo and MGS oh please...theres liek a hundred better such PC titles out there. Super Mario Bros Melee is the bomb, its fun, easy, quick etc...thats the kind of games i'm looking forwards to.

If Xbox/Xbox 360 are more dated when it comes to really entertaining and innovative games, how come the tie ratios of software-to-hardware for the Xbox/Xbox 360 are head and shoulders above the Gamecube's?

I owned all 3 consoles last generation, and the Gamecube got the least amount of play, by far. And that's the story across the world last generation.

For all of the fun and innovative games Nintendo must've had, they did a good job keeping them secret -- all I saw were games like Metroid Prime, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Hackeysack, Super Mario Elderly Golf, Super Mario Goes Bowling, Super Mario Mini-Golf, Super Mario Tennis, Super Mario Chess...all that innovation, where does it end?

Resident Evil 4 was an incredible game. I know it came out for the PS2, but it was out for the GameCube for like a year first.
